We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Senior Project Director for our Federal and State Response and Recovery Practice in Alexandria, VA. We are looking for a Senior leader that is experienced with FEMA’s Response and Recovery Programs (engaging at the federal and state levels) and has had direct leadership roles in procuring and leading projects with FEMA and other Federal/State agencies.
How will you contribute to the team?
Marketing and Client Management
- Develops, implements, and monitors annual and strategic marketing plans for targeted projects; participates in the development of Strategic Plan.
- Actively pursues, investigates, and evaluates new or expanded opportunities for associated projects and services within the firm by maintaining contacts with current and prospective client decision makers; identifies and works toward the resolution of client relations problems.
- Reviews proposals teams; reviews and recommends project marketing budgets subject to approval by senior management.
- Responsible for maintaining positive client relations with existing clients and building new relationships with others. Serves as a point of contact to the client and acts as a liaison between management and clients on advanced program related issues.
- Prepares and delivers presentations on behalf and in support of the client’s program.
Project production and management
- Leads key programs from a Principal or Program Management level. Providing client interactions as needed and supporting project/task managers who oversee delivery on a day-to-day basis.
- Assists project staff in developing work plans; reviews and approves schedules, budgets, project milestone dates, and work products.
- Oversees financial performance of projects; assists project staff in identifying potential problems to ensure remedial actions are promptly taken to avoid financial losses and client dissatisfaction.
Contracts and financial
- Conducts contract negotiations with clients and sub-consultants.
- Recommends operational budgets for approval by senior management. Reviews and makes decision on proposed project budgets.
- Monitors monthly performance against budget to ensure project profitability.
- Management assignments typically involve large complex projects made up of highly sophisticated and specialized technical components generating annual net revenue between $5 million to $20 million annually.
- Assists management team in identifying staffing needs and the hiring/compensation process based on future workload and manpower projections for project staffing.
- Will currently manage indirect reports from the Infrastructure Solutions Business Unit (ISBU) Technical Professional Organization (TPO) selected for staffing projects and support mentoring and evaluation of these staff.
- Responsible for direct management of staff as the local team is further built and expands.
What will you contribute?
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Planning, Finance, Disaster Management, Economics, or related field, and at least 15 years’ experience with FEMA or State agency response and recovery programs and administration.
- Relevant experience in marketing and strategic planning.
- Experience in managing large program contracts, leading large diverse teams.
- Briefing Executive Leadership on business plans and growth strategies.
- Experience with direct client management and experience effectively delivering on project goals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced team environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Required: Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or similar certification. Program Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
- Proficient computer skills (including MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat Professional).
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects in a changing work environment.
- Ability to work independently and/or on a team.
- Comfortable interacting with Clients and Client Stakeholders.

Expected compensation range is between $158,468-$264,113 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
Upon acceptance of an offer, all candidates must go through a drug screen test and background check. AtkinsRéalis is a federal contractor which mandates a satisfactory background screening report and drug test that supersedes state laws.
