The company supplies platform controls, aircraft components, liquid oxygen equipment, and emergency breathing equipment to its customers.
Position Summary:
This position will support the research, evaluation, and implementation of improvements to the manufacturing processes throughout the Essex Operations Facilities. This position is responsible for evaluating Current State Value Streams, providing vision and support for implementation of Future State Lean Value Streams and facilitating tactical Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts. The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.
Essential Duties:
- Evaluates, analyzes and makes recommendations on Value Streams to make the best flow of product(s).
- Collaborate with multiple departments/teams to understand pain points and interruptions to flow of product.
- Analyze and reduce Queue times between processes among multiple value streams.
- Learn A3 problem solving and apply it to areas in Value Streams to reduce lead times/issues.
- Analyze overall Lead Time for products and lead projects to reduce lead time days.
- Utilizes system data to create and/or prepare management reports that can be used to identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommend improvement projects based on current manufacturing methods and needs.
- Coordinates Kaizen events between all necessary departments.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a best-in-class continuous improvement strategy.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Work with various department stakeholders to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing program of change.
- Complete pre and post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects.
- Comply with Essex company policies and maintain a positive work environment.
- Partner with team members to develop new support materials based on revised processes; to include training, reporting and system enhancements.
Requirements:
Knowledge equal to a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or related field and up to three years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within manufacturing.
