The CEO of PPNCNY will lead the organization to provide the highest quality healthcare, education, and advocacy to ensure the right and ability of all individuals to manage their own sexual and reproductive health. An ever-changing, dynamic and diverse societal landscape is the backdrop for all PPNCNY’s work and the CEO will work to secure a future in which all North Country residents have the sexual healthcare, information, and power they need to live the healthiest lives possible.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides overall leadership, management, and planning of PPNCNY collaborating with staff and the Board to fulfill the mission of the organization. The CEO is the chief spokesperson for the affiliate, representing PPNCNY to donors, PPFA, local and government agencies, and the community at large. Responsibilities of the role include:

The CEO is responsible for holding the strategic vision and fulfilling PPNCNY’s mission, attending to business operations, steering and championing PPNCNY’s leadership team, representing PPNCNY’s interests with key stakeholders locally and nationally, and ensuring a healthy, generative work culture for staff at all levels of the organization.
The CEO will be committed to strengthening and deepening PPNCNY’s DEI strategy and initiatives. A willingness to think critically about and advocate for existing DEI initiatives, and a commitment to continuous learning and deepening PPNCNY’s DEI strategy is crucial.
Qualifications

Passion for Mission
- Demonstrated commitment to PPNCNY’s mission; a passionate advocate for reproductive and health equity and justice; understanding of rural communities to provide access to and expansion of services
Background and Education
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Experience in reproductive healthcare, nonprofit management, rural healthcare and/or healthcare administration or a related field.
Leadership and Management
- Minimum of five (5) years professional experience in a management position or as a member of a senior management team. Ability to build teams; leverages the strengths of the team, leads by example, translates strategic thinking/planning into action, visible and ‘hands on’ approach.
Communication
- Strong oral, written and digital communication skills; adaptable communication style, transparent and accountable, clear, articulate and persuasive; experience serving as the public spokesperson of an organization.
Nonprofit Management
- Experience managing/leading a matrixed nonprofit organization.
- An understanding of core business functions; organizational change and crisis management; managing large, complex teams; collaborative leadership; financial acumen and budget management, board development.
Fundraising and Resource Development
- Fund development experience required, especially with local, state, and federal public entities and foundations; grant writing; research and prospecting; fundraising strategy development; ability to fundraise and create a network.
Community Engagement and Development
- Experience building and developing relationships and partnerships with community stakeholders, government agencies, and donors
DEI Skills, Knowledge, Experience
- Experience advancing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives; a commitment to advancing and promoting an organizational culture that embraces diversity.

The Chief Executive Officer position is a full-time exempt position with a hybrid work-environment that may be based in the Watertown, NY or Plattsburgh, NY administrative office. A regional presence to Northern NY, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, is required. The CEO will be available to visit health clinics, events and conferences with significant local and national travel. PPNCNY offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, and 401k retirement plan, as well as opportunities for professional development and continuing education. Salary is competitive with relevant experience, within the framework of the organization’s annual operating budget, and in the approximate range of $175,000-210,000.
Physical demands and working conditions:
- Must have access to own transportation and have the ability to regularly travel across affiliates as well as to statewide and national meetings several times each year.
- Must be able to work at a computer keyboard and use the telephone frequently.
- Frequently sits, stands, walks, climbs stairs.
- Twists, turns constantly.
- Lift, carry 10 lb. or less frequently.
