Job Summary
The Senior Rehabilitation Manager is responsible for planning and implementing the overall Rehabilitation Policies, Procedures and Services. Ensures efficient and effective operational management of the company’s rehabilitation department. Ensures all assessments and reassessments in the rehabilitation department are complete and accurate prior to the end of each month. Travel to other Innovative Integrated Health may be necessary on occasion for coverage needs and management oversight.
Essential Job Functions
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborates with the Center Managers regarding process improvements for the Rehabilitation Department.
- Monitors and evaluates rehabilitation staff competencies, training, developing therapy strategies, and evaluating patient care outcomes.
- Participates, or assigns a rehab department member to the interdisciplinary team (IDT) to represent the department.
- Completes initial, SDR and unscheduled assessments; attends or assigns a representative to the morning meeting providing updates and report changes in participants’ baseline status to appropriate staff on a daily basis.
- Manages the daily operations of the centers’ Rehabilitation Department.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of all rehabilitation services.
- Works with the Regional Medical Directors, Director of Quality Improvement, Director of Compliance and Program Director to develop policies and procedures and ensure that these are reviewed in a timely manner and are in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Reviews and revises restorative exercises as needed.
- Facilitates program approved training, provides training and education to staff on performance improvement.
- Prepares reports regarding rehabilitation i.e., utilization, performance improvement, service data, excel data and productivity.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.
- Ensures that project/department goals are met and adheres to approved budget.
- Adheres to and supports the centers’ practices, procedures, and policies including assigned break times and attendance.
- Provides treatment as necessary and indicated in the absence of other PT personnel.
- Assesses the need for adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment (DME); orders and facilitates authorization of such equipment; assesses, recommends, and provides follow-through therapy for specialized shoes.
- Provides initial and ongoing training, education, and supervision for physical therapist assistant(s), including all areas of performance with departmental policies; reports as required to supervisor regarding these issues.
- Utilizes appropriate safety measures when providing care.
- Develops special programs according to participant needs.
- Educates staff, participants, and family on services available through physical therapy staff.
- Develops, instructs, and supervises other staff, and/or family members on therapy program to be carried out by individuals other than a physical therapist.
- Communicates observed staffing needs/changes and further program development needs to supervisor.
- Completes documentation as required.
- Adjusts schedule as needed to meet the needs of Innovative Integrated Health participants.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding participant, staff, contractor, and organizational information.
- Performs skilled treatments and assessments to participants at their homes as necessary.
- Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner; and performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Be flexible in schedule of hours worked.
- May be required to use personal vehicle; a valid California Driver’s License is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient knowledge of computer skills. MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Knowledge of general office procedures, equipment and filing systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to quickly learn department policies, procedures, goals, and services.
- Skill: Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to change priorities regularly.

- Ability to access all areas of the center throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds occasionally, 15 pounds frequently, and 7 pounds constantly; required to obtain assistance of another qualified employee when attempting to lift or transfer objects over 50 pounds.
- Requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; frequent sitting, standing, walking and repetitive leg and arm movements, occasional bending, reaching forward and overhead; squatting and kneeling.
- Work is generally performed in an indoor, well-lighted, well-ventilated, heated, and air-conditioned environment.
Requirements
- Experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population.
- Education and Certification
- Be a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy, required.
- A Master’s degree within the field of Healthcare Management, preferred.
- Current CPR with First-Aid Certification.
- Is medically cleared for communicable diseases and has all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.
