Job Title: Director - Product Management
Type: Direct Hire
Work Location: Hybrid position in Woodland Park, NJ or McLean, VA! 3 days in office per week (Tues, Wed, Thurs). Last week of the month is totally remote.
Job Overview
The Product Director will be responsible for defining, developing, and managing a portfolio of platform-based software products initially geared toward the Electric Utility sector while planning for products that allow to expand to other Critical Infrastructure and Enterprise markets.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Drive the product strategy, go-to-market plan, roadmap, and lifecycle of a portfolio of platform product and services.
- Communicate internally and externally the value proposition of new solution offering and how it fits within the overall corporate strategy.
- Build business cases and plans for new product introductions, and work with engineering and partners to offer end to end solutions and accelerate market adoption.
- Define value-based pricing structures.
- Present new products and services to customers and be the “Voice of Customers” internally for new product features.
- Represent at events and conferences to establish as a thought leader in the grid and AMI use cases enabled by low latency, high bandwidth communications.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and commercial teams to ensure that new product features and timing are communicated internally and externally.
- Own and manage the entire product lifecycle from planning and feature definition to market launch.
- Partner with Marketing to conduct market analysis and competitive research to identify areas of differentiation for product offerings.
- Lead the development of product requirement documents (PRDs) and product feature backlogs to drive an agile product development approach in collaboration with the technology/engineering organization.
- Partner with Engineering to determine the vendors sourcing strategy for in-house and partner driven solution development.
- Support sales training efforts, participate in sales calls when required and assumes the role as product expert both inside and outside the company.
- Grow the product team and hire new talent.
Required Skills & Experience
- A Minimum of 8 years of product management experience with demonstrated ability to bring to market new software products and services.
- A Minimum of 5 years of experience in the electric utility space, preferably with grid operations or planning products and/or services.
- Experience in managing and navigating utility IT and Cybersecurity requirements from an edge (devices) and cloud perspective.
- Knowledge of Utility operational and enterprise systems and data integration requirements.
- Comfortable with the uncertainty of introducing new software solutions and demonstrated ability to deliver technology products/services in a fast-growth business and technology environment where priorities can shift and require rapid adaptation.
- Understanding of mission critical system architecture and security requirements.
- Experience and expertise in developing new cloud-based, managed network solutions targeted to the enterprise and critical infrastructure segments, preferably the utility sector.
- Insight and experience with conceptualizing, designing, and collaborating with technology development teams on the development of cloud APIs and cloud applications.
- Ability to engage and present to senior executives and build consensus and support for progressing product initiatives to successful launch.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills that drive collaboration, mutual respect and inclusion with cross-team members and the broader organization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to build consensus, achieve win-win outcomes with peers, positively influence decisions and solutions.
- Strong quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science. Technical background/degree.
- Electric/utilities industry.
- Grid technology.
- Experience with Software Products.
- Products are more software – data platforms, understand how software for utilities work.
- AVMS, SCADA systems will be a fit.
- Not smart meters or AMI – if they have it (fine), won’t be working with this.
- Grid operations, devices on the network.
- Do NOT need a communications person (not Verizon or AT&T).
Big Bonus Points If You Have
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration.

A reasonable estimate of the Base Salary for this role is $170,000 – 185,000 per year plus Commission (uncapped). The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
