Join Our Team as a Building Inspection Supervisor!
Commerce City is seeking a qualified individual to supervise the work activities of building inspectors. As a supervisor, you will evaluate building inspectors' work performance and accuracy and coordinate field construction inspections to ensure compliance with the Commerce City Building Code and related ordinances. In this role, you will advocate for and promote a culture of safety while performing other duties as assigned to further the organization's goals and objectives.
We're looking for someone with a strong knowledge of building codes, inspection procedures, and building practices. Proficiency in computer skills, navigating sensitive situations, and excellent communication and conflict resolution skills are a must. We're seeking someone who can enforce codes fairly, build effective relationships, organize tasks efficiently, and make independent judgments.
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
The hiring range is $84,652- $105,816/annual.

High school diploma or GED is required. College coursework in construction management, architecture or engineering is preferred. At least five years of building inspection experience is required with a minimum of two years as a team lead or supervisor. Must have or obtain within 18 months of hire commercial or residential inspections certifications issued by the International Code Council in the following disciplines: building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical. A Colorado journeyman or master plumber or electrician license may be substituted for the commercial plumbing or electrical inspector certification respectively. The successful completion of the FEMA ICS-100, IS-559 and IS-700 incident management training. An equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. A valid Colorado driver’s license is mandatory.
Knowledge of:
- Extensive knowledge of building codes, inspection procedures, and building practices.
