Working as part of a small, agile team to design and implement new features and technologies. Delivering high-quality, high-performance code in an agile environment. Using, evaluating, and learning exciting new technologies that keep our products and teams on the cutting edge. As a key member of the team, this individual will help design, develop, test, and deploy applications on the Tandem platform, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
The programmer will be responsible for the analysis and translation of business and technical requirements into solutions that are consistent with the strategic vision and overall business strategy to effectively design and deploy effective, high-impact technical, and business process solutions. This individual will follow Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Business interaction, Requirement Analysis, Software Architecture, Design, Development, Testing and Deployment and Documentation (CFR 21 Part 11) phases.
Onsite office presence is required 3/4 days a week.
- Develop key product features and complex software solutions within existing large-scale enterprise applications and new strategic initiatives using preferred languages.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (QA, Business Analyst, Project Managers, etc.) in an Agile/Scrum team environment.
- Participate in code reviews, collaborate with team members, and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Contribute to technical discussions and decisions, offering insights and innovative solutions to address complex challenges in Tandem development.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, software defects, and performance bottlenecks through effective debugging and problem-solving techniques.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, architects, and project managers, to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, coding standards, and user guides for Tandem applications.
- Optimize Tandem applications for performance and scalability, analyzing and refining code, database queries, and system configurations.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in Tandem technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance your skills and contribute to the team's growth.
- Implement security measures and adhere to security best practices to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data in Tandem applications.
- Assist with the generation and analysis of business and functional requirements for proposed software solutions.
- Participate in architectural and database design discussions as they relate to product direction.
- Create design specifications, documentation, and unit testing plans as defined by the Agile development process and any other required process.
- Complete development tasks independently as well as under direction from the product architect and development leads.
- Maintain and support software solutions post-production. Ability to contact internal clients/users to help troubleshoot production issues.
- Develop features completely including the front-end components and the backend systems.
- Work closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
- May act as team lead.
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Required Work Experience:
- Proven experience as a Tandem Developer, demonstrating successful contributions to Tandem-based projects.
- 6+ years of experience required with TAL, Enscribe and SQL. Knowledge of C is a plus.
- 6+ years of professional experience in software development or technical engineering capacity.
- Knowledge of database systems, data modeling, and SQL is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Java API and Restful Web services, CGI Webservices is helpful.
- Exposure to modern software development practices, such as DevOps, CI/CD, and microservices architecture, is a plus.
- Knowledge of healthcare protocols such as HL7 etc. and instrument interfaces (ASTM) is a plus.
Other:
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the Tandem Non-Stop architecture and its components.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly those used in the Tandem environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with an ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an agile development environment, with computer science fundamentals in object-oriented (OO) design patterns, distributed databases, and data modeling techniques.
- Experience in development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications.
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in an Agile development environment utilizing the Scrum methodology.
