Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) - Milestones Behavioral Health
Are you prepared for the impact you can make as a Nurse leader in Behavioral Health? We are looking for our next Chief Nursing Officer at Milestones Behavioral Health. This is a full-time, salaried position and is part of the dynamic leadership team. The CNO directs, plans, coordinates, monitors, and supervises nursing and the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services. We are looking for someone that provides a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and the nursing staff.
About Milestones Behavioral Health Hospital: Currently in construction and set to open in December 2024, this state-of-the-art 68-bed behavioral healthcare hospital is at 320 N Tibbs Ave Indianapolis, IN.
What would you do in this role?
The CNO will be a key member of the team at Milestones BH. The CNO directs, plans, coordinates, monitors, and supervises nursing and the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services. We are looking for someone that provides a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and the nursing staff.

Although our hospitals are free-standing and run independently, you have support from Corporate and are never alone. From day one, you will be paired with corporate recruiting to help with recruiting efforts to help bring in the best talent for your facility. You will also be paired with a Corporate Nurse leader to mentor you and support you in this role. Responsibilities:
- Sets the vision for nursing practice in the delivery of safe, timely, efficient, equitable and patient centered care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints.
- Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of all nursing personnel.
- Provide clinical leadership, strategic and long-term goals for the nursing staff.
- Anticipates and effectively manage changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed.
- Role model expectations related to customer service and demonstrated sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety.
- Determine, assign, and assess performance objectives for nursing department.
- Organize, coordinate, develop and review policies, procedures and nursing protocols within the facility to meet all regulatory, compliance and quality care standards.
- Responsible for the quality of care, operational and financial efficiency of the nursing department.
- Lead and develop the nursing staff within the facility, providing performance goals, feedback and development opportunities.
- Set and carry out policies, goals and procedures for their function or department.
- Evaluate the quality of care, staff's work and the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the function or department.
- Develop and oversee functions or departmental budget and reporting.
- Provide staff management to include hiring, development, training, performance management and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
- Provide direct care as needed. Direct and conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is strongly preferred.
- Experience with free-standing inpatient setting is preferred.
- 6 or more years’ nursing experience.
- 3 or more years’ progressive managerial experience required.
- 3 or more years behavioral health experience preferred.
