The expected base salary range for this position is $162,500 to $198,000. This salary range may vary based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, education, and geographic location.
JOB SUMMARY: The Director, Biostatistics will provide statistical oversight on multiple projects for DMC/DSMB work and/or statistical consulting. This position will collaborate and work effectively with the project team and may have direct supervision over biostatisticians or programmers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
- Assumes major responsibilities and scientific and quality oversight for client DMC projects. Assists Project Management with financial tracking of projects.
- Serves as a thought leader for statistical methodology for clinical trial design on statistical consulting projects, when assigned. Duties may include protocol/statistical analysis plan development, simulation work, oversight of final analysis and submission work, and regulatory strategy/guidance and drug development advice from a statistical perspective.
- Direct supervisory responsibilities, assigns work for direct reports and determines the level of staffing required for projects.
- A member of professional societies, attends meetings of these societies and may be an active member of professional societies. May serve as a peer reviewer of scientific manuscripts and proposals.
- May serve as a DMC/DSMB statistician.
- Remain abreast of current advances in biostatistics, clinical trial design, and applicable regulatory guidance.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position as well as excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: PhD degree in statistics/biostatistics
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- At least ten years of industry experience working in clinical trials as a statistician post-graduate level degree(s) in statistics/biostatistics
- Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills required
- Strong analytical skills, SAS experience highly preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall responsibility of management including direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of the assigned team and staff. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 0% - 5% travel expected.
