Job Description
The Associate Vice President (AVP), Segment Marketing and Customer Experience (CX) is responsible for managing global segment marketing teams in Biopharma, Applied Markets, Clinical, and Life Science Research, in addition to the global Customer Experience (CX) function. These teams are responsible and accountable for the successful development and delivery of a comprehensive customer-focused upstream marketing strategy – identifying enterprise-wide opportunities to create more customer value. Segment Marketing and Customer Experience functions act as the global “single source of truth” for driving market and customer focus across all of Agilent. This position is a critical leadership role in the commercial organization and will partner with sales, marketing, and strategy teams across all geographies and portfolios. The successful candidate will be a critical leader in helping to accelerate Agilent’s customer-first marketing transformation.
The successful candidate must have prior senior leadership experience in a global matrix organization, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, extensive sales and marketing experience, a broad understanding of the markets Agilent participates in, and the proven ability to collaborate and engage with executive management and key stakeholders across a variety of functions. Prior experience leading complex, cross-functional change, especially focused on delivering customer-focused solutions, is a must. Experience shaping organizational activities through a market segment lens from innovation through commercialization is required.
The AVP, Segment Marketing and Customer Experience will report to the VP, Commercial Marketing.
Responsibilities:
- Overall management of Agilent’s segment marketing and customer experience strategy, ensuring the development and implementation of a comprehensive market and customer segmentation framework, processes, and tools to identify and address unmet customer needs.
- Develop marketing framework and associated customer/market insights to create the global “single source of truth” for Agilent’s market segment and customer approach.
- Define and govern OneAgilent market segment and persona model, leveraging the approach to develop a deep and common understanding of our customers and markets into the enterprise.
- Utilize a robust set of market data to identify the most attractive market segments for strategic growth; help steer the organization in a cross-functional manner to capitalize on these opportunities.
- Act as an evangelist for a “Customer First” mindset across the organization, developing a culture of “outside-in” thinking across the wider enterprise; recommend and advocate for changes that will further embed customer focus in the enterprise; drives implementation of approved changes.
- Own and drive key strategic initiatives at the enterprise level, partnering with Corporate Strategy, commercial, and divisional leadership to drive successful outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative approach with stakeholders and partners. Work across worldwide teams in sales, commercial programs, product management, business intelligence, strategy, and corporate development to build and evolve market-focused strategies, as well as align team resources to ensure effective outcomes.
- Oversee all people manager related duties such as hiring, performance evaluation and management, expense, and contract approvals. Identify training and coaching needs for the team to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Act as a leader and role model in driving Agilent’s culture throughout the organization. Develop a future pipeline of customer-focused upstream marketing leaders.
- Ensure that Agilent Corporate standard business processes are followed by employees, partners, and vendors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or University degree or equivalent.
- 15+ years related experience in sales and/or marketing, in addition to 10+ years of relevant experience as a first/second level manager.
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills at the global level in the implementation of organizational strategies, projects, technologies, and processes, developing and managing high-performance teams, and change management.
- Demonstrated experience with the development of strategy at the enterprise level, especially strategies focused on customer and market segment trends.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively throughout all hierarchical levels in an international, matrixed, business environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong stakeholder partnerships and external vendor and agency relationships.
- Ability to deal with high pressure, visibility, and workload with regular interactions with executive leadership.
- Prior experience with developing organic and inorganic growth roadmaps; partnering with corporate development functions to assist with M&A opportunity assessments.
- Good knowledge of Agilent products, services, markets, and market dynamics, and understanding of the industry sales process and buying influences of Agilent customers.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
Pay Range: $205,280.00 - $378,485.00
