Position Information: Under the general direction of the Chief Medical Officer, and in collaboration with the Executive Director of Holistic Health Operations, this position provides overall leadership for medical practice and delivery of clinical services to help University of California Riverside (UCR) students resolve or manage health-related concerns so they can attain their academic and broad educational goals. Provides high-quality, cost-effective, accessible primary care, specialty care, ancillary medical, pharmaceutical, and health education services for graduate and undergraduate students to support the mission of the Health, Well-being & Safety organization and the University of California Riverside and the University of California system.
The full salary range for the Associate Chief Medical Officer is $176,700 - $362,900 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $269,800 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
Requirements: Educational Requirements: - Must be Board Certified, and in possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board.

Experience Requirements: - 8 - 13 years of related experience.
Required - Previous supervisory/managerial experience.
Preferred - 5 years of direct patient care experience after completing an accredited residency training in medicine.
Preferred - 5 years experience in Sports Medicine.
Preferred - Experience in women's health, including but not limited to reproductive care and pregnancy termination services.
Preferred - Experience providing services to individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, including but not limited to transgender individuals including hormone replacement therapy.

License Requirements: - Current Unrestricted California Medical License.

Certification Requirements: - Current Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Adolescent Pediatrics.
Required - Current United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate.
Required - Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) card and must be maintained in accordance with the American Heath Association standards

- For positions associated with Sports Medicine, must maintain current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the Conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the University of California adheres, and, at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.
- Position requires skills associated with the practice medicine and management of health services.

- Must be able to establish goals and objectives for the Medical and Health Promotion organizations.

Key Responsibilities: - Actively plans and coordinates the work of the unit, and may be involved in integrating the work with other areas of the Health Services.
- Participates in budget planning, on-going and existing accreditation AAAHC, standards of care, procedures, programs and policies, personnel and labor relations. Acts in the role of the Chief Medical Physician in his/her absence. May conduct staff development programs. Performs audits of completed clinical work.
- Visits patients, reviews clinical records and determine if appropriate treatment is being provided.
- Serves as a clinician making preliminary or conclusive diagnosis and providing treatment for those diagnoses. Makes diagnostic judgments without extensive laboratory or consultative backups. Responsible for versatile caseload, including initiation of treatment and investigative procedures before referral to other specialists. Provides services to patients on a regularly scheduled or walk-in basis. Works with CMO in providing medical services and patient care. Provides on-call services as required.
- Effectively recommends HR-related actions associated with hiring, development and discipline of staff members according to campus policies and procedures.
- Presides at consultative or clinical conferences.
- Arranges, as necessary, for consultation on difficult cases with other medical authorities.
- Monitors Provider staff schedules. Responds to patient care related questions and issues. Responds to requests for medical consultation and issues that may impact the safety of patients, staff, etc.
- May conduct staff development programs.
- Performs audits of completed clinical work.
