Position Overview:
RUSH University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for RUSH Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Division Chief of Hematology, Oncology & Cell Therapy.
The successful candidate will provide strategic, innovative, and operational leadership, and will have responsibility and accountability for the clinical and academic performance for the Division within the Department of Internal Medicine. The candidate will champion talent acquisition, professional development, and retention efforts for the Division and RUSH-MD Anderson Cancer Center and its regional sites. A strong record of collaborative leadership and commitment to excellence in clinical, research, and academic service is essential. Ongoing research achievement, community engagement, and educational excellence are highly desirable. The successful candidate must also be committed to mentoring faculty, trainees, and medical students. In addition, they will have credentials that merit appointment as Professor, will have an MD or equivalent degree, will be board certified in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology, and will possess a demonstrated commitment to innovation, along with the leadership skills necessary for guiding faculty development and advancement across research, clinical, and academic missions.
As a division leader, the Division Chief will work closely with the Department Chairperson and the Cancer Center Director to provide an energetic and inventive vision for maintaining and growing clinical, educational, and research programs, developing strategic interdisciplinary teams for furthering research, and continuing faculty development.
Our new, state-of-the-art Cancer Center facility in Chicago serves as a hub for services throughout our health system. Our core programs are supported by multi-disciplinary teams from hematology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, research and bioinformatics, clinical operations, and dedicated clinical and support staff, including patient navigators. This structure allows specialists to more easily consult and see patients based on tumor type or molecular and genomic signatures, combining our outstanding multidisciplinary approach with a data infrastructure that supports patient-centered care. This integration enables us to make a greater commitment to research, dramatically scaling the effectiveness of clinical trials, and enabling translational research that moves bench to bedside, and bedside to bench.
