Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver appropriate solutions across application or infrastructure platforms.
- Define and enforce application development standards across the enterprise.
- Ensure solutions designed adhere to enterprise architecture standards.
- Stay up to date on platform, infrastructure/application development technologies and capabilities.
- Expert in application development, database design, and/or platform (operating system) efforts, helping project teams comply with enterprise policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Work with Enterprise Architects to ensure solutions are in place throughout all IT systems and platforms to mitigate identified risks sufficiently, and to meet business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Communicate risks and solutions to cross-functional key stakeholders.
- Research, design, and advocate new technologies, architectures, and products that will support business and IT requirements for the enterprise and its customers, business partners, and vendors.
- Evaluate and develop application level architectures for application development.
- Develop, in concert with Application Architects, a reliable, top-performing, and cost-effective platform architecture.
- Lead the development and maintenance of the platform strategy and architecture.
- Organize the development effort.
- Provide motivation and guidance to the entire development team during the systems development life cycle.
- Responsible for the vision that underlies the solution and the execution of that vision into the solution.
- Look after the programming, integration, and testing of software systems and associated devices.
- Select the most appropriate technology for a problem, balancing architectural concerns of the project with the concerns of the enterprise.
Responsible for:
- How technology can be used to solve a given business problem.
- Which framework, platform, or tech-stack can be used to create a solution.
- How the application will look, what the modules will be, and how they interact with each other.
- How things will scale for the future and how they will be maintained.
- Figuring out the risk in third-party frameworks/platforms.
- Finding a solution to a business problem.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 10 or more years of work experience in IT, with a broad exposure to different platforms and technologies.
- Expert knowledge of solution/application development issues, techniques, and implications across one or more platforms.
- Broad experience with and exposure to multiple platform environments to enable the proper perspective and ability to design application or infrastructure solutions at an enterprise level.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Strong team player who can work across multiple functions and disciplines.
- Executive level people and process skills.
- Ability to explain to senior executives a complex problem in layman's terms.
- Strong understanding of business processes in order to create a cohesive vision of a usable product.
