We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and dedicated Project Coordinator (Educator Consultant III) who can listen, build trust, skillfully communicate, and engage authentically with internal and external partners.
The successful candidate will need to be an independent self-starter who is skilled at collaboration to develop and implement strategies that:
- Promote environmental justice
- Prevent lead and toxic exposures in children and families
The work requires a strong ability to build partnerships and to support diverse in-language and in-culture services and approaches, focusing on communities who are inequitably impacted by exposures to lead and other toxics.

ABOUT THE LEAD AND TOXICS PROGRAM:
The Lead and Toxics Program team includes five educator consultants and project/program managers who implement $1.5 million in grant-funded work each year including:
The selected candidate will implement health education and community engagement activities across BSK Prenatal-5 programs, including managing a portfolio of community contracts. Best Starts for Kids (BSK) is King County's initiative to improve the health and well-being of our residents by investing in promotion, prevention and early intervention programs and services for children, youth, families and communities.

Program Planning and Management:- Develop and implement community education, outreach, and public involvement strategies that promote healthy environments and reduce exposure to lead and other toxics.
- Plan and produce effective education and engagement materials
- Work with partners (internal and external) who provide services to reduce lead and toxics exposures where families live, learn and play.
Contract Management, Planning and Support:- Manage contracts, assuring that partners meet contract deliverables and adhere to federal fiscal requirements.
- Provide support and technical assistance to community-based organizations and coalitions.
- Develop and implement training programs for community/internal partners related to childhood lead poisoning prevention, testing, intervention, and mitigation.
Partnership Development:- Develop relationships and create equitable partnerships with other public, private, and non-profit agencies and organizations.
- Facilitate processes that center community voices and assure that equity considerations are integral to the development and implementation of all program strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of equity and social justice principles and practices and an understanding of the effects of place, race and policy and systems-based inequities on marginalized communities and populations.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, in-person, and remote): concise, responsive, clear, accurate communication for diverse audiences (including community members, elected officials, representatives of agencies/organizations, peers, and staff), virtually and in-person.
- Demonstrated skill with project management tools (online and in-person) to manage contracts, meet fiscal monitoring requirements, and organize and prioritize work quickly in response to changing needs.
- Work efficiently under deadlines.
- Demonstrated skill with use of Microsoft Office products (such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) and Zoom or similar video conferencing software.
- Demonstrated experience building trusting relationships with culturally specific and community-based groups, volunteer boards, service providers, and co-workers.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating community-led processes to identify priorities and address public health issues.
- Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/TRANSFERABLE SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, science, public health, public administration or a combination of work experience and education.
