What Will You Do
As a Senior Director of Patient-Centred Development in Late Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM), you will play a crucial role in ensuring that patient-centric strategies are defined, implemented, and embedded early in program and study design across our organization. As AstraZeneca continues to put patients at the forefront of our mission, we are excited for our move to Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA in 2026. The role will be at Director or Senior Director level depending on your previous experience.
With patient experience in focus, you will be working cross-functionally in a truly international environment with opportunities to engage with and influence key internal stakeholders, including Senior Leadership vision of Patient Centricity and Clinical Trial Diversity within R&D goals and company core values.
You will interview patient panels to incorporate their voices into clinical trial design and execution, ensuring that the needs, preferences, and experiences of patients directly shape how trials are structured and conducted. This approach will enhance the relevance, accessibility, and overall success of clinical studies, aligning with our mission to prioritize patient-centered outcomes.
You will lead efforts to drive the adoption of patient- and site-centric tools and services across the portfolio.
You will work closely with Early and Late CVRM clinical development teams, R&D Digital Health, and leaders from other therapeutic areas.
You will collaborate with Commercial, Global Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Site Management and Monitoring, Clinical Operations, and external vendors or non-profits.
You will foster innovative patient and site experiences through these collaborations.
Essential for the role
To excel in this position, you should have a passion for patients and a desire to optimize patient clinical study experiences through your understanding of patient and site burden in clinical trials. You should possess the following essential skills and capabilities:
4-Year Degree in a related science field.
3+ years of relevant experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in CVRM Therapeutic Areas/Indications.
Experience in Drug Development in the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and data interpretation to inform decision making.
Ability to strategically implement concepts and strong analytical skills to evaluate outputs.
Experience managing, influencing, building, and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders in conflicting priority environments.
Experience working with external partners, CROs/AROs, Patient Advocacy Groups.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
Experience working cross-functionally with Global and Local teams.
Effective leader with ability to manage a team.
Self-directed, driven strategic thinker with global development operations expertise.
Exceptional interpersonal, networking, oral and written communication skills, including to non-specialist audiences, patient advocacy groups, and the public.
