Responsibilities
Coordinates all diagnostic imaging and outside referrals; greets patients at every stage of the visit; responds promptly to patient needs and requests; responds promptly to physician and team member requests and inquiries; ensures that patient insurance information is accurate; verifies that all diagnostic test orders are correct prior to processing; obtains insurance authorizations for tests being performed; interacts by telephone, in person, and by email with patients and other ancillary services; communicates written and oral ideas and plans effectively; records all authorization activity on the daily spreadsheet; responds to inquiries regarding pending authorizations and exams; communicates with physician office staff, patients, radiologists and diagnostic imaging staff to schedule appropriate medical services; obtains pertinent medical information and utilizes diagnostic test protocol to determine the most appropriate schedule for patients and providers; enters the request for services, patient demographic data, third party payer and authorization information into the scheduling software; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit; completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities through quality measurement or participation of ICARE process as assigned; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and five years of related experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and strong computer skills is preferred.
