Responsibilities
Various Shifts Available
- Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and hospital policies and procedures, including those pertaining to confidentiality.
- Demonstrates CPR according to American Heart Association standards.
- Utilizes the principles of aseptic practice and initiates corrective action when breaks occur.
- Establishes and maintains a sterile field; performs scrub duties; performs sponge and sharp counts.
- Inspects sterile items for contamination before opening; decontaminates instruments according to unit protocols.
- Provides direct patient care according to unit specific competencies.
- Identifies and monitors medications administered from the sterile field.
- Responds appropriately to emergency patient situations.
- Utilizes a PC or terminal to access the Hospital Information System (HIS) and ORSOS system.
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards and Electrosurgery Safety Policy and Procedures.
- Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and members of the healthcare team in person and via telephone.
- Responds to overhead pages; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records.
- Participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned.
- Regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime and call as required; must be available in hospital within (30) minutes of call; related duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in a Trauma Operating Room or completion of a scrub technician training course and six months of experience in a Trauma Operating Room.
