Position overview
Delta Utilities is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Facilities to oversee the management and operation of 15 offices and facilities within the organization. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and functionality of all facilities while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company standards. The Director of Facilities will also lead the team responsible for the maintenance, security, and overall operational efficiency of the facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of all facilities to ensure that they are safe, efficient, and well-maintained.
- Develop and implement maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and reliability of facility assets.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for the upkeep and repair of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
- Guarantee all facilities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Implement and oversee safety programs and emergency response plans for all locations and conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards.
- Track and report on expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Develop relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure the timely and effective delivery of services and to secure favorable terms for the organization through the negotiation of contracts and service agreements.
- Oversee space planning and utilization of all offices and facilities, promoting efficient use of space to best meet organizational needs.
- Manage office relocations, expansions, and renovations as needed.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the facilities management team, providing guidance and support to team members.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous growth within the team.
- Monitor and manage energy usage across all facilities, identifying opportunities for reduction and efficiency.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in facilities management, business management, or a related field; relevant certifications such as Certification in Facility Management (CFM), LEED or similar are considered a plus.
- At least seven to ten years of relevant experience in facilities management, preferably within the utility industry or an equally regulated environment, with at least five years of experience in a leadership role overseeing multiple sites.
- Developed experience in facility management, maintenance, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets and financial plans.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong understanding of facility management and its tools.
- Ability to travel frequently between facility locations.
