About the Opportunity
In this newly created position, you will lead the strategic delivery and overall administration of Avaya's executive compensation and equity-based long-term incentive programs. As a subject matter expert, you will be the primary go-to, providing credible counsel and guidance to C-suite and senior leaders. You will also partner closely with finance, legal, and outside advisors across the People team. You will innovate, providing best-in-class design solutions and improve processes for scale. In your career, you have been a functional sponsor for a significant compensation effort supporting enterprise transformation.
Reporting to the Head of Compensation, the ideal candidate will serve as their right-hand proxy, helping to guide and elevate the output and profile of the function across all compensation areas. You are highly collaborative, a team player, a continuous learner, and a savvy communicator. You deliver to a high standard, enabling a trusting partnership with the Chief People Officer, General Counsel, CFO, and executive team. You have experience in a public company environment, preparing materials and presenting them to the CEO and Compensation Committee of the Board.
This is a remote-first position, with primary work hours during the USA East Coast or at our Morristown, NJ Office. Avaya offers hybrid work flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compensation Strategy Development: Develop and implement compensation strategies that support the organization's overall business strategy and objectives.
- Executive Compensation: Design and manage executive compensation programs, ensuring alignment with performance and business goals and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Equity Planning: Oversee equity compensation planning and administration, including stock options, restricted stock units (RSUs), and other equity-based awards.
- Equity Administration: Manage the administration of equity programs and technology, including systems administration, vesting schedules, annual reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Compensation Tool Selection and Support: Evaluate, select, implement, and manage compensation tools and systems to support compensation planning, administration, and analysis.
- Market Analysis and Benchmarking: Conduct regular market analysis and benchmarking to ensure the competitiveness of compensation programs and practices.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits and maintain governance over compensation policies and practices.
- Collaboration and Communication: Partner with HR Business Partners, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to align compensation programs with organizational objectives and ensure effective communication of compensation-related information.
About You
- Must have proven experience analyzing and preparing materials and presenting them to the executive team and board audience.
- Global experience is a must. Tech-industry or Private Equity experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in executive compensation and stock plan administration required.
- 5+ years of broad-based and variable compensation experience preferred.
- Experience with Fidelity stock plan administration is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of equity compensation regulations (SEC, IRS) and accounting standards (ASC 718).
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.

- Deal with high ambiguity and feel comfortable operating in a space with little direction for solving hard, complex talent and organizational business problems.
- Demonstrate strong ownership, determination, and commitment to achieving results.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $215,000 + bonus.
