The VP, Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) Capability Leader leads the Optum Rx PBM capability team and is accountable for delivering on the PBM strategic priorities, the most critical priority being advancing PBM modernization via best-in-class technology and automation.
This role is accountable for leading dedicated capability teams independent from but connected to the business to drive technology investments aligned with long-range strategy and aimed at materially transforming our Optum Rx PBM. This role supports the entirety of Optum Rx's PBM direct business as well as emerging support for UnitedHealth Care (UHC) client segments expected over next several years.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Capital allocation prioritized based on highest value work that will have greatest impact on achieving our long-term plan
- Understands the key indicators to assess capability performance and inform decisions on new or enhanced opportunities that are aligned with business strategies and internal business functions
- Accountable for portfolio rationalization to merge duplications of existing capabilities driving towards common enterprise capabilities where possible and reduce low-value enhancements/feature development in existing systems to ensure majority of the capital is aimed at transformational, future-state investments
- Applies deep capability expertise and vision to credibly represent, manage and engage with business to drive transformation and create and execute a strategy and roadmap to help business achieve financial targets and improve the client performance and member experiences
- Representation includes C-Suite level engagement internally and regular participation in must-win client finalist sessions
- It is important that this leader brings a product mindset to ensure client and consumer needs are met through this transformation
- Drives innovation and use of emerging technologies such as AI/ML to reimagine technology used by operations and external clients to automate, drive value, transparency and a differentiated consumer and client experience
- Ensures the Optum Rx PBM has a proactive strategy and roadmap to remain compliant with federal and state regulations
- This is an ever-changing landscape, and it is imperative that the PBM capability team ensures Optum Rx is compliant with large regulatory mandates such as IRA Part D Redesign, Maximum Fair Price and NCPDP telecom vF6

Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years' experience healthcare industry, with at least 3 years' experience with PBM or Pharmacy
- 10+ years' experience leading teams
- 8+ years' experience leading capabilities or technology products
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams in a fast-moving and dynamic business environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Experience with regulatory mandates such as IRA Part D Redesign, Maximum Fair Price and NCPDP telecom vF6

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
