You will join our Health Safety & Security Team supporting our project teams and employees. As our new Northeast H&S Regional Lead, you will be an active part of our team that manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures primarily in the northeast region of the U.S other regions (as requested) in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil if necessary. You will report to the Health, Safety, and Security (HSS) Operations Manager and collaborate with other region leads. You will conduct inspections to identify unsafe conditions and help implement safeguards and ensure employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Oversee and manage Ramboll’s corporate Caring Together health and safety program
- Adhere to corporate policies and standards set forth in Ramboll’s Caring Together safety program
- Provide guidance to project leaders regarding Ramboll’s safety approach, H&S staffing needs, risk assessments, subcontractor selection, and similar H&S requirements
- Support recruiting and hiring of safety professionals as needed to support safety at Ramboll’s largest project sites
- Lead or facilitate safety meetings and prepare safety reports when requested.
- Confirm that competent and qualified persons are assigned to oversee tasks when required.
- Plan and conduct site audits to assure compliance with safety regulations and to prevent hazardous situations and safety violations
- Represent Ramboll on environmental and safety issues.
- Correct unsafe behaviors when observed and demonstrate ability to follow-up when facing resistance from one or more involved parties
- Resolve safety issues between Ramboll project teams, subcontractors, and clients while maintaining Ramboll’s compliance with regulations, standards, and internal procedures
- Actively promote a positive safety culture
- Report all incidents and near misses into Ramboll’s electronic reporting system.
- Lead and facilitate investigations that identify root causes and effective corrective and preventative actions
- Promote reporting of work observations into Ramboll’s electronic reporting system
- Promote participation by subcontractors in Ramboll’s work observation program.
- Communicate incident and observation trends based on reported incidents and observations and conduct training or take other pro-active measures in response to trends.
- Present or facilitate safety training programs to assure understanding of regulations and Ramboll policies
- Other duties as assigned.
Your starting point for constant growth
- Confident knowledge of health and safety regulations/standards applicable to safety activities

- Professional and confident persona when correcting unsafe behaviors that are observed or reported at projects or office locations
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, subcontractors and regulatory agencies
- Good presentation, interpersonal and written communications skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- 10 years of related experience with the majority being in the EPC/EPCM industry; adjacent industry experience in pharmaceutical, or secondary metals may be considered.
- BS degree in health and safety or related field
- Ability to complete light to medium physical activities
- Ability to travel as necessary to conduct audits at project sites, attend meetings and presentations and support the mobilization of larger projects
- Ability to quickly learn and use Ramboll’s electronic reporting and auditing systems
- Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated leadership & management skills
Preferred qualifications:
- A professional safety certification such as the CSP, CIH, or similar.
- Hazwoper 40-hour certification
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification
- Advanced training or education in fields related to accident prevention or occupational health and safety is highly desirable
- Experience with off-shore safety requirements related to work from vessels or platforms
Position Logistics
- Position location is flexible but ideally within upstate NY, Massachusetts, or Connecticut
- Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with potential for intermittent weekend work
- Drug and alcohol testing is required.
- Background check is required
Salary Transparency Statement
At Ramboll, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role is likely to be compensated at an annual rate between $112,000 - $140,000. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range, depending on numerous factors, including experience, geographical location, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and skill level, and does not include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
