We are looking for an Equity Trader / Specialist responsible for placing all stock orders received from the representatives. The position is responsible for providing representatives with market information such as stock quotes, volume information, and symbols.
Location: This position may be done HYBRID out of one of the following home office locations:
- Houston, TX: 11740 Katy Freeway, Energy Tower III Ste 600, Houston, TX 77079
- San Diego, CA: 10150 Meanley Drive, San Diego 92131
- Syracuse, NY: 100 Madison Street, Syracuse 13202
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $40,000 to $60,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
What you will do:
- Take stock trades in a professional and helpful manner.
- Provide current market information and stock quotes to advisors.
- Review intraday trading notifications for possible trade problems such as wrong commission amount, dropped orders, duplicated orders.
- Check firm accounts at the end of the day, and ensure each account is flat.
- Assist advisors with historical pricing of equity securities.
- Request pricing on un-priced securities.
- Correct equity and corporate action trade errors, and complete error report.
- Investigate short positions.
- Notify advisors of expiring GTC orders.
- Review daily option contract adjustments and notify clients/advisors of contract adjustments.
- Send letters to advisors and their clients when adjustments have been made to open GTC orders due to corporate actions.
- Run concentration report monthly, and forward to Compliance Manager.
- Complete the time & sales portion of the OATS report on a daily basis.
- Compile a daily equity trade blotter.
- Back-up UIT and Fixed Income Traders.
What you will process:
- Execute Pershing equity trades on the Pershing system or with appropriate Pershing trader.
- Review and process all brokerage equity and option trade approvals.
- Process equity cancel rebills.
- Process Pershing short rebate report.
- Process all equity corporate actions instructions.
- Process cashless exercises for employee stock options.
- Process requests to link annuities to Pershing accounts.
- Contact advisors on option assignments to determine commission, and if applicable update the trade.
- Process Portfolio Evaluation System (PES) and Special Product Inclusion Accounts (SPIA) set up and updates.
- Process Cost Basis Adjustments requests.
What you bring:
Must Haves:
- FINRA Series 7
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) are a must as well as strong multi-tasking skills.
- Quick problem solving and prioritizing is essential.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate, both written and orally, clearly with reps, customers, and other staff.
- Strong attention to detail, including the ability to identify risk and when existing controls are not sufficient.
- Ability to adapt and work well within a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task on a variety of projects.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred.
- Two years’ experience on a trading desk.
