Job Description
Reports to the Assistant Director of Asset Management (“ADAM”). The role requires a highly skilled professional who has experience managing workout grade LIHTC investments along with having a basic understanding of the LIHTC disposition process at both the upper and lower tier. In addition to managing a small portfolio of challenged LIHTC investments, individual will be tasked with exiting numerous LIHTC partnership interests annually, where responsibilities span from “beginning to end” and include valuations, negotiation of terms with clients, securing internal approvals, and working closely with clients and legal professionals to close transactions. There are numerous internal and external stakeholders associated with the workout and disposition work, thus the individual must be highly communicative and able to work collaboratively across the organization. Strong time management and organizational skills are a must, along with knowledge of real estate accounting and finance, partnership taxation, and familiarity with financing documentation and interpretation of legal documents.
Beyond the portfolio management and transactional responsibilities, the individual may provide support and mentorship to more junior team members. Assisting with the disposition pipeline and teamwide disposition workflow are added expectations of the job.
Other job duties include the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary leadership team, strong communication abilities (written and verbal), strong analytical abilities, and strong prioritization skills.
Basic Qualifications
- Typically Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically six or more years of related experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Experience managing LIHTC workouts
- Two or more years of LIHTC disposition experience
- Thorough understanding of tax credit investment management, Section 42 regulations, partnership, and tax compliance and affordable housing lending
- Deep knowledge of USB systems and processes
- Experience in real estate asset management, multi-family housing management, program management of federal housing programs, and interpreting and implementing HUD regulations
- Advanced knowledge of real estate finance, legal documentation and requirements, real estate property management, and accounting
- Highly motivated, able to work independently with minimal direction, make sound business discussions with little historical context and possesses acute attention to detail
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to effectively manage competing priorities
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Location Expectations
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
