The Chief Engineer directs and controls the Engineering operations within the resort, which includes the daily supervision of mechanical, structural, electrical, and other-related maintenance systems. Work with the Resort Leadership Team to develop and implement energy conservation and maintenance programs; engage team members; maintain proper budget allocation to improve business sustainability, and find opportunities that better equip the organization to achieve its established annual business goals.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Develops and completes the pivotal initiatives for the Engineering department, and makes adjustments to the operations in order to meet the strategic goals and interests of Resort Operations. Develops clear goals, and ensures that policies and mentorship are in place to clearly define responsibilities, processes, delegations and decision-making powers for goal achievement. Maintains compliance with organizational, business, and financial regulations.
- Ensure that the property’s Emergency Preparedness and Safety Awareness Plan(s) are updated and current at all times.
- Leads team members in completing their assigned functions scheduling outputs. Routinely inspects units and common areas to ensure they are in compliance with QA and safety standards. Monitors guest requests and complaints, resolving issues and coordinating efforts with other departments as necessary to provide excellence in service.
- Develops and maintains human resource management practices that are performed by direct reports which include recruitment, performance management, and corrective action in partnership with the HR Business Partner. Maintains firm understanding of the established Collective Bargaining Agreement as it relates to the supervision and performance of HHV-VO team members.
- Performs other related activities as required.
Qualifications
What are we looking for?
- High school graduate or equivalent
- More than 5 years of engineering experience in hotels or related industry
- More than 4 years of managerial experience in the same or similar environment
- Ability to write and speak English to comprehend and communicate job functions to engineering staff
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Flexible in work schedule including weekends and holidays
It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- BA/BS/Bachelor's Degree
- Director experience
- CPR/First Aid
- Experience in handling operations under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
