Position: Deputy Division Chief
Department: Health Care & Fair Competition Bureau, Antitrust Division
Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for an experienced and highly motivated attorney to join her Antitrust Division as Deputy Division Chief. The Antitrust Division protects the people, state agencies, and businesses of Massachusetts from anticompetitive practices and helps maintain and encourage a competitive and vibrant economy through fair and effective enforcement of the antitrust laws. The Antitrust Division investigates and challenges anticompetitive mergers, price-fixing agreements, abuses of monopoly power, and other illegal practices by companies, both local and national, that harm Massachusetts consumers and important state interests.
Primary Duties: The Deputy Division Chief is responsible for assisting the Division Chief with managing the Division’s Assistant Attorney Generals and other staff. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: supervising, reviewing, and approving court filings; assisting the Division Chief with the day-to-day management of the Division; mentoring Division staff and assisting them with skills development; and reviewing and editing Division work product to ensure consistent and high quality work. The Deputy Chief will also serve as the lead attorney on selected cases and investigations.
Antitrust Division Attorneys represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in investigations and litigation before state and federal courts involving the enforcement of state and federal antitrust laws. Cases cover a broad range of industries and often pose complex and, in certain circumstances, cutting-edge legal and economic issues. In addition to supervising Division legal and economic staff and handling their own cases, the Deputy Division Chief will work with other attorneys, including, in some cases, Assistant Attorneys General from other states across the country and attorneys within the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission. The Deputy Division Chief may be involved in policy development, including drafting or reviewing proposed legislation.
