Octane Lending is hiring a technically savvy Director of IT & Infrastructure based in Irving, TX to lead their New York and Dallas/Irving, Texas IT and infrastructure teams. This person will be responsible for leading the IT staff to carry out the upgrading and maintenance of existing applications, identification of gaps and development of new technical solutions. This position will ensure the secure and effective operation of all computer systems, related applications, hardware, and software used within the organization.
The Director of IT & Infrastructure will provide technical oversight with solutions such as Intune/Microsoft Endpoint Protection, Okta, Google G-Suite, Meraki / Ubiquiti networks (WiFi / wired), Zscaler, on-boarding, and off-boarding employees, isolating problems and implementing solutions. You will work directly with the internal IT team, external vendors, and manufacturers to discover and communicate technical solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement innovations that improve project velocity, infrastructure resiliency, security, and data availability while maintaining our existing systems.
- Define, manage, triage and maintain appropriate SLA for incoming requests.
- Mentor team members, answer technical and process questions to resolve issues brought forth and be vested in their growth and development.
- Ensure positive team morale and productivity.
- Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff, acting as the last line of defense for quality control, best practices, and effective design strategies.
- Respond to outages and security incidents within a timely and efficient resolution and participate in non-office-hours support on-call rotation of production cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Own business outcomes through a balance of speed, creativity, and relentless high bar for quality.
- Bring both technical acuity and leadership skills to build a high-performing team.
- Partner with stakeholders to help your team understand their mission and how they fit in with the overall business goals; define and execute your team’s long-term strategy and quarterly roadmap.
- Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs of the team.
- Engage with 3rd party vendors to determine root cause of problems when appropriate and run reports to catalog and diagnose malfunctions that continue to occur.
- Manage IT projects in Jira/ Zendesk; create, participate and manage the on-call escalation rotation.
- Primary owner of creating and maintaining IT internal/partner support Runbooks, and employee support documentation; Lead capture and resolution IT support issues in IT support channels.
- Support Octane’s on-site physical infrastructure as users require.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Computer Science or related degree strongly preferred.
- 10+ years experience in IT, systems or software engineering, followed by 5+ years in a lead or manager capacity and managing geographically dispersed teams supporting a hybrid workforce with multiple office locations in different time zones.
- Experienced interacting with senior management; ability to demonstrate critical thinking and thought leadership.
- Proven track record of effectively developing direct reports through continual feedback, goal-setting, and growing them through the ranks of an engineering organization.
- Experience managing teams of 7+ direct reports or more.
- Advanced understanding of modern IT, security practices and methodologies, and the ability to roll up your sleeves and contribute when and where necessary.
- Previously worked on or managing a team working on mission-critical production systems and high-volume applications.
- Experience with automation, integrating various IT applications via API for facilitating on-boarding and off-boarding of employee resources.
- Familiarity with Powershell, Bash, and Shell scripting.
- Experience supporting software products such as Windows, Office, OSX, iPhone and Android Tablets and phones in corporate settings managed via MDM.
- Understanding of access management software configurations.
- SSO/SAML setup experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a similar role managing a geographically dispersed team supporting hybrid workforce.
