Marcum Search is assisting a client in the financial services industry to find a Data Modernization and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Senior Director with at least 15 years of experience to lead and oversee the strategy of data governance and modernization of enterprise data efforts across the entire organization.
Our client seeks a Data Leader with experience in banking/financial services industries who have led enterprise data management initiatives and data technology teams, including modernizing with AI and other technologies, and transforming data governance, storage, and analytics.
Ideally, the Sr. Director will be local to the Columbia, SC area as a hybrid work arrangement is preferred. Candidates in locations near a relatively close airport or who are open to relocation will be considered. Relocation assistance is available.
Main Responsibilities:
- Report to the CIO and oversee the strategy and enterprise data efforts, to ensure effective data-driven decision-making through the design, governance, and oversight of data functions.
- Play a pivotal role in shaping our client’s future by leveraging robust data and advanced AI, and create a strategic vision for new data and AI products, while ensuring data supports policy activities, define future data needs.
- Develop strategies to optimize data quality, protection, and privacy, working closely leaders across departments to enhance data governance practices to ensure reliable data for business decisions.
- Oversee Data Warehouse Strategy, Governance Quality, and Control functions.
- Build and manage a team of data practitioners including an AI team, and foster a culture of data sharing.
- Establish a data and AI governance framework to manage data quality, consistency, availability, and usage across the organization.
- Lead innovation from a data perspective, focusing on digital assets and advancing data management and business analytics capabilities.
- Collaborate with business strategy and operational leaders to identify technologies, optimize data integration, storage, and retrieval processes, including eliminating redundant and non-value-added data systems.
- Setting short and long-term goals and objectives related to data and ensure effective operating controls are in place to assure compliance.
- Stay up to date on data strategy best practices, technology, products, and services to maintain the competitive edge.
- Develop and manage the departmental budget.
Required:
- Proven track record in large-scale data management within complex financial environments and expertise in AI technologies.
- Expertise in driving business outcomes by identifying and operationalizing data, building, articulating, and delivering business cases around data use or data-centric business strategy.
- Building and managing data teams.
- Experience with strategic data architecture, systems, and visualization techniques.
- Ability to develop a multi-year roadmap and achieve specific objectives.
- Ability to develop and manage a complex budget.
- Experience collaborating with and presenting to stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for data asset utilization; strong skills in navigating partnerships and managing multiple client work streams.
- Experience leveraging data to improve business processes, automate, and integrate critical workflows using big data analytics and predictive intelligence.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Certifications in Data Management or AI preferred.
