General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is looking for a PRN Mammography Technologist to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital! We are seeking someone that can cover 2 to 3 shifts per week between Monday through Saturdays.
We are looking for basic knowledge of radiographic theory and techniques, good knowledge of specialized and complex radiographic procedures.
As a Mammography Technologist, you will perform mammography procedures and assist with needle biopsies, localizations, and aspirations. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Primary Duties:
- Performs Breast imaging studies to include mammography procedures and assists with needle biopsies, localizations, and aspirations. May be required to perform breast imaging examinations in the department and ancillary areas.
- Adheres to the policies and procedures that apply to the performance of obtaining breast imaging studies, including performing correct exams, including laterality, on the correct patient at the time requested. Ensures that radiation safety precautions are taken.
- Provides basic information to patients and/or families about procedures to be performed and can answer questions if asked. Coordinates, communicates, and collaborates with Patient Financial Associates that register radiology exams to minimize delays and potential safety issues for the outpatient population.
- Assists with the upkeep of radiographic equipment, adheres to all related safety requirements and reports need for equipment repairs. Coordinates and collaborates with Technical Aides to ensure efficient room turnover.
- Ensures timely completion of all exams through tracking, scanning, and other technical workflow as related to Radiology Information System (RIS), Enterprise Radiology Solutions (ERS), and Enterprise Electronic Record (EMR). Participates in orientation and other opportunities for learning as delegated for the department, other Hospital staff, and students. Qualifications:
- Vocational/Technical Diploma from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology; competency in didactic coursework and an ARRT-specified list of clinical procedures by completing competency requirements established for the discipline in which they are seeking certification and registration.
- ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) - should be certified by ARRT for advanced certification in mammography within one year from date of hire.
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
- 1 year of mammography-based experience preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $59.26.
