The CNO is accountable for leading the performance of Meritus Health with a focus on improving patient experience, reducing patient harm, reducing overall turnover, improving staff wellbeing and improving efficiency.
The CNO ensures the provision of all nursing services are aligned with the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Meritus Medical Center.
Leads by example and serves as a compass to staff supporting the work aligned with the quadruple aim of improving healthcare, health, efficiency and joy at work. Is responsible for providing direction and management of nursing day-to-day operations of the hospital, including inpatient and outpatient nursing services.
Position is accountable for establishing the administrative structure and direction necessary to assure that patients/families receive quality care and service in a manner which is cost effective, consistent with the organization's philosophy and objectives, and adheres to guidelines established by law and regulatory agencies.
Establishes standards of practice that includes policies and procedures, standards of patient care, standards of practice, and standards to measure, assess, and improve patient outcomes for areas of responsibility.
Responsible for control of the delivery of nursing care is supported and promoted in a collaborative professional nursing practice model encompassing the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements and the value of nursing as an asset to outcomes management.
Participates with leaders from the governing body, management, medical staff, and clinical areas in planning, promoting and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
Responsible for developing and managing the budget.
Education: BSN Required. Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN, MHA, or MBA) required; Doctorate in Nursing or related field preferred.
Experience: Seven plus years of managerial experience in a medium-sized health care organization.
Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure and will be required to obtain Maryland license or participating compact state.
