We, in the Expedia Group’s Strategic Partnerships and Affiliates Team, are building the next-generation, scalable B2B partnership platform that will power hundreds of thousands of demand partners across the industry ranging from big businesses to small bloggers and micro influencers in helping them recommend Expedia Group brands to their audiences and in the process grow their businesses. We aim to redefine the travel partnerships sector by building innovative partner tools and solutions that incorporate the new ways in which today’s travelers discover and shop travel products.
To do this, we need a technically passionate engineering leader with an entrepreneurial approach who loves challenges, enjoys problem solving, and takes pride in delivering best-in-class products.
You will work with a geo-distributed, cross-functional team of 20+ engineers designing and developing solutions for complex problems with a wide-reaching business impact.

What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with peers, leaders, and partners across functions and business groups to come up with technology solutions to business problems.
- Lead a community of engineers and help strengthen the team.
- Own the end-to-end product life cycle for large scale projects: design, development, testing, deployment, and providing operational excellence and support.
- Find and advocate for industry standards in development methodologies, techniques, and technologies.
- Share domain and industry knowledge between multi-functional teams.
- Research and recommend frameworks and architectural/code design patterns.
- Mentor and coach junior members on the team.
- Advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability).
- Take a whole systems approach to analyze issues and implement comprehensive solutions by ensuring that linkages between structure, people, process, and technology are made.
- Anticipate and prevent problems and roadblocks before they occur; report on status of difficult or critical projects to leadership.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
- 10+ years of experience in a Software Development Engineer or similar role.
- Full stack engineering with expert level experience in Java, Kotlin or an equivalent language.
- Experience working with front end technologies such as ReactJS, NodeJS, AngularJS or an equivalent language.
- Experience working with GraphQL or an equivalent strongly typed language.
- Demonstrated understanding of cloud services.
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
- Experience leading cross-functional large-scale projects.
- Mentored and developed other software engineers.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum software development practices and version control tools such as Git.
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
