The Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) business is critical to deliver on this mission and vision by building and operating Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, which is growing rapidly in response to unprecedented demand for Microsoft services. CO+I operates one of the largest cloud networks on the planet, comprising more than 160 datacenters, 130+ edge sites, 2+ million miles of fiber, and millions of servers, network, and storage devices. Microsoft's Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) organization, which drives our cloud business, is expanding. Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) organization is responsible for supporting Datacenter Operations and Critical Environments globally, enabling the infrastructure that underpins this growth, including AI. We are seeking a Director, Supplier Relationship Management with a proven track record and passion for using data and processes to achieve desired outcomes. This role will be part of our Core Datacenter Procurement (CDP) team, which falls under the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) organization. Reporting directly to the Head of Supplier Relationship Management within the CDP team, the candidate will play a key role in understanding operational business challenges and driving the right level of supplier performance and relationship engagement.
Responsibilities
- Supplier Engagement Programs: Lead Supplier Engagement programs for assigned supplier categories or regions, working closely with Procurement & Global Operations Teams. Focus on driving supplier-related actions and achieving desired outcomes in collaboration with datacenter Operations, Services, and Procurement teams.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication: Partner with stakeholders to understand and document business processes, requirements, and challenges that specifically impact supplier performance and relationships. Identify and implement opportunities to enhance datacenter availability, security, and efficiency by working with Data Center Operations, Core Datacenter Services, Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams. Ensure ongoing stakeholder alignment by keeping them informed of progress and updates through regular reviews and effective communication.
- Relationship Management: Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with strategic suppliers, interfacing with executives and project teams globally at Microsoft and across the supplier's leadership chain. Establish common goals, drive effective communication, and ensure alignment between key stakeholders and suppliers to enhance supplier performance and outcomes.
- Supplier Performance and Feedback Assessments: Conduct and analyze internal assessments to evaluate supplier business performance and trends, and external assessments to gather supplier feedback. Use insights from both internal assessments (Voice of the Business) and external assessments (Voice of the Supplier) to inform supplier performance reviews and business planning.
- Supplier Escalation Management: Establish Supplier Escalation procedures and frameworks with clearly defined escalation paths to ensure the right people are involved at the right time. Manage issue resolution through closure, ensuring accountability for supplier performance and contractual obligations.
- Rhythm of Business Planning & Reviews: Develop and drive the rhythm of business for Business Planning & Supplier Performance Reviews with Microsoft and supplier cross-functional teams. Capture key actions, conduct gap analysis, manage action items to closure, and develop action plans for underperforming suppliers.
- OKR Tracking & Reporting: Define and track Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to measure the effectiveness of the supplier performance and relationship program. Prepare and report on the progress of these OKRs during monthly internal business reviews, ensuring alignment with SRM team performance objectives and internal reporting requirements.
- Supplier Engagement Approach: Ensure a unified supplier engagement approach is implemented and recognized by suppliers, ensuring consistent supplier management practices.
- Data Analysis & Visualization: Lead the collation, management, and analysis of supplier performance and compliance data, including data transformation and visualization processes. Utilize visual techniques to convey complex data, improving awareness and accelerating decision-making to drive supplier performance.
- Risk Assessment Initiatives: Drive supplier engagement and risk assessment transformation initiatives across large cross-functional teams. Act as a thought leader to enhance Supplier Relationship Management processes and tools.
- Supplier Reporting & Documentation Management: Develop, centralize, and maintain comprehensive supplier performance and relationship overviews through dashboards, presentations, and communications. Organize and manage all supplier engagement and performance documentation, including market intelligence for assigned supplier categories, to ensure accurate and accessible information for informed decision-making.
- Implementation Oversight: Oversee the deployment of technological solutions and user-friendly dashboards for applications such as Supplier Spend Analytics, Supplier Scorecards, and Supplier Contact and Escalations Management, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
