The Opportunity -
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the architecture of a new cloud platform. You will use your significant experience as a Network Engineer and as a DevOps Engineer to continuously improve both our physical and virtual infrastructure using DevOps principles and technologies.
Your Role
- Design infrastructure and networking at a large scale, spanning datacenters. Implement the design in our data centers.
- Document and present architecture and designs to Engineering leaders, peers, and cross organizational stakeholders.
- Design, implement, and manage monitoring/alerting for an operational customer base.
- Design, implement, and manage automated provisioning for all IaaS infrastructure.
- Work with developers to automate workflows on top of our IaaS infrastructure.
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years of experience with managing mission critical systems with a hard uptime requirement (i.e.: company loses money if service isn’t working)
- Expert in internet networking technologies, TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, segmentation strategies, firewalling techniques, multi-datacenter, multi-route, and continuously available topologies
- Experience configuring eBGP, iBGP, manipulating routing with community strings, anycast, and both global and local load balancing techniques, as well as route reflectors, route summarization techniques, and influencing both inbound and outbound traffic
- Expert knowledge of layer 2 & 3 networking protocols, including but not limited to spanning tree, QinQ, VxLAN, and MLAG
- Significant experience with Linux administration (preferably EL7/8)
- Experience with network troubleshooting techniques
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with the setup and management of DNS and DHCP (i.e.: Bind/Kea)
- Experience with capacity planning, and network surveillance/monitoring
- Automation experience (scripting)
- Ability to understand existing APIs and produce automation that uses them
- Prior experience implementing significant technology redesign projects
- Database administration experience
- Extensive Experience developing monitoring and alerting systems (e.g.: Zabbix, OpsGenie, Prometheus, Grafana)

How We Work
We are an interdisciplinary team working to prototype, develop, and operate a new cloud platform that users can run in their own private datacenters or in datacenters Nutanix manages for them. We also run internal production services on the platform ensure we’re actively learning to manage the platform while it’s live. We think big but start small, design with the future in mind, we set goals and strive to meet them.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $140,800 and $282,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
