Position Overview

As an Engineer I, you will learn the basic concepts of all software components for Exact Sciences. This role will contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software components with provided mentorship and training as you develop your software development skills. While you are developing professional and technical expertise, you will gain an understanding on how to resolve routine issues and problems. This role will work collaboratively on cross-functional agile teams to deliver high quality software.
Working on our Software Engineering teams, you will contribute to the development, enhancing, and sustaining of software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. You will contribute to the design and creation of engineering specifications for building software programs based on basic knowledge of information systems and determine what development methodology to use after documenting software requirements.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Contribute to the building of defined software features, investigating and fixing bugs, and writing tests related to basic software components with detailed instructions for all projects and work provided by leadership.
- With general instruction, drive projects of limited scope to completion, resolving routine issue and problems within defined tasks.
- Learn basic concepts of quality standards, policies, techniques, and best practices.
- Develop basic foundational theories, skills, and practices to accomplish work assignments of limited complexity.
- Communicate status updates on individual project-based assignments to the project team.
- Establish stable working internal relationships with peers, SMEs, and decision-makers.
- Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
- Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering; or High School Diploma/General Education Degree and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
- Basic knowledge of software development and design, and relevant domain specific skills.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming.
- RESTful web services, Relational Databases (Postgres, SQL Server), and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate, Entities Framework).
- Designing and developing apps that access and or utilize cloud-based frameworks (e.g., Azure, Amazon AWS Services/SDKs, etc.).
- Agile development tools; including, but not limited to, JIRA, Confluence repository.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Next Generation Sequencing data analysis tools and workflows.
- Familiarity with object-oriented languages, such as Python (preferred), Java, .NET, or C++.
Salary Range: $73,000.00 - $119,000.00
The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
