Job Summary: The CEO is responsible for directing, coordinating, and controlling all aspects of the operating functions, processes, and staff of the Surgical Hospital while demonstrating the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.
Reports to: Regional Vice President, Operations or Regional Director, Operations, and Governing Board of the facility.
Jobs Reporting to this position: All facility employees and contract staff.
Responsibilities:- The daily operation of the facility.
- Serving as a liaison between the Governing Board, the Medical Staff, and all departments of the facility.
- Reporting pertinent activities concerning the facility to the Governing Board at regular intervals.
- Appointing a person responsible for the facility in the absence of the CEO.
- Planning for the services provided by the facility and the operation of the facility.
- Overall management of the Partnership as outlined in the Operating or Limited Partnership Agreement.
- Lead discussions during Monthly Operations Review calls with USPI’s Home Office Business Operations team.
- Deploy, monitor, and ensure that USPI’s EDGETM is integrated within the facility’s QPI program.
- Ensure compliance with USPI’s policies and procedures related to internal controls.
- Develop, monitor, and control staffing needs, operations budget, and capital budget.
- Ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Negotiate and control all external contracts.
- Establish pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and local market standards.
- Foster positive work relationships among all departments of the facility.
- Develop and ensure compliance with appropriate departmental policy and procedure manuals.
- Monitor financial performance to avoid cash flow problems.
Personnel Administration:- Hold monthly staff meetings outlining goals and priorities.
- Manage employees in accordance with facility policies.
- Review employee performance as evaluated by managers.
- Review and approve disciplinary actions.
- Evaluate management performance.
- Approve the addition or deletion of positions.
- Develop employee productivity analysis.
- Implement a program for job-based orientation and training.
- Manage all employee files and records.
- Provide educational opportunities for professional staff development.
Clinical Services:- Ensure compliance with regulatory body standards.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director in evaluating and developing surgical services.
- Manage clinical departments and supervise contracted services.
- Monitor the function of surgical and patient care equipment.
Marketing and Planning:- Develop and implement a sales/marketing plan.
- Identify and develop new services for ambulatory surgery centers.
Quality Improvement:- Develop and promote a continuous quality improvement program.
- Administer the infection control program.
- Identify and correct quality care issues.
- Develop statistical indicators for evaluating operations and care quality.
Medical Staff Relationships:- Process the credentialing of practitioners.
- Collaborate in the review of Medical Staff Bylaws.
- Promote positive relationships between employees and practitioners.
Physical Facility:- Ensure the facility is clean, neat, and professional.
- Identify and approve plant improvements.
- Ensure appropriate record keeping is maintained.
Administrative Representative:- Attend corporate meetings representing the facility.
- Act in accordance with the vision and mission of the facility.
- Stay current in changes in the healthcare environment.
Personal Development and Professionalism:- Identify areas that require reinforcement through education.
- Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings.
- Follow the facility's professional conduct and dress code policy.
- Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with all stakeholders.
Required Experience:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Hospital or Surgical Hospital experience.
- Minimum three years’ experience in a top administrative or management position.
- Good command of the English language.
- Ability to work well with all stakeholders.
