As part of the Data Asset and Solution team under GADS - the biggest data science organization in PayPal, we are responsible for identifying the opportunities that would improve the decision management within the risk and customer service domain; working with other teams to provide the solutions and turn the ideas into reality.
Your Way to Impact:
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist with a passion for the payment industry to develop data and provide data-driven solutions/products driving better decision management. This position is responsible for mining comprehensive data assets, exploring new angles to drive business insights, incubating product from research insights, and working with engineering teams on product delivery.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into data science problems.
- Transform data into analytical data assets, data products, and actionable intelligence for faster decision making.
- Responsible for requirement gathering, data model design, data ETL process design, data product development, and maintenance.
- Support PayPal business units by providing data in a ready-to-use form.
- Influence data instrumentation based on business requirement understanding.
- Own and is accountable for the design and development of data solution features or a data pipeline with high reliability, stability, scalability, and performance.
- Design or develop data models and enrich the analytical data sources for further usability.
- Establish a comprehensive monitoring framework, proactively identify, investigate, and resolve data issues and challenges.
- Communicate effectively, able to connect complex technical concepts/information and business requirements/implications.
What You Need to Bring:
- A successful candidate should bring a minimum of 4 years of experience within data science, analytics, and/or a relatable field.
- Proficiency with database design is required, with the ability to translate requests into data products.
- Experience with Machine Learning and feature building is highly preferred.
- Strong SQL skills are required.
- High proficiency in fundamental technical skills like Python or R is required.
- Experience with operational data ETL, data warehouse/data mart building preferred.
- Ability to identify data sources, perform root cause analysis, and generate features is required.
- Experience/knowledge within Machine Learning is preferred.
- Experience with Hadoop, Google Cloud (Big Query) preferred.
- Experience with report analysis and development using BI tools such as Tableau is preferred.
- Quick-thinker, fast learner, wide general knowledge, problem solver.
- Team player able to navigate a fast-moving and often changing environment.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $84,500 to $204,600.
