Stamford Health is looking for a Full-time Plant Oper. Mechanic.
Operates and maintains mechanical equipment such as high pressure boilers, compressors, pumps, HVAC related equipment, and other equipment related to the correct and safe provision of heating, cooling and ventilation of the hospital complex. Must possess an OE2 or S1 Connecticut State license. Must have proven knowledge in plumbing, HVAC, building controls and systems, and boiler and chiller operations as well as excellent troubleshooting skills.
License (P2 and/or P1) is required.
Required Skills
- Assists in operating, maintaining and repairing all equipment that supplies the hospital complex with, water, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
- Responds to routine and emergent service calls as they relate to plumbing, HVAC, building controls systems, and boiler and chiller repairs within the organization. Troubleshoots leaks and breakdowns.
- Operates and maintains equipment such as air compressors, boilers, generators, pumping systems, vacuum pumps, motors.
- Cleans, lubricates, calibrates and adjusts all equipment according to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Performs testing of water samples. Adds water treatment to boilers, heating and cooling water systems.
- Tests emergency generators and logs all results.
- Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos and other hazardous substances.
- Fills out daily log sheets and daily round sheets. Submits this paperwork to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assists the manager in the planning and implementation of new programs and processes.
- Routinely requests supplies needed to fulfill daily responsibilities.
- Provides training to coworkers as needed.
- Works with building management software to control equipment and monitor systems.
Required Experience
High school or trade school graduate with five years of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare environment. Ability to read blueprints, control schematics, technical manuals and specifications as well as basic knowledge of all HVAC and mechanical systems and processes required. Must have either a P1 or P2 license. Large plant experience with high pressure steam and chilled water production. Successful candidate must have the ability to obtain an OE2 license within a 6-month period of employment.
