Principal Consultant – Energy Transition & Transformation
We are seeking a skilled Principal Consultant to join our Power Networks team in a remote role, with the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US or Canada. In this position, you will drive business development, provide technical leadership, and oversee the delivery of consulting projects.
You will play a key role in expanding our client base and identifying new business opportunities, contributing to the growth of our Power Networks division. Your responsibilities will include leading dynamic power system studies and addressing both immediate and long-term planning needs. You will manage projects related to power generation and transmission planning, reliability assessments, load interconnection, feasibility studies, and network modeling.

What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the sales pipeline and lead and negotiate proposal activities for clients.
- Actively pursue additional business opportunities with existing clients, and identify and pursue new business opportunities with new clients.
- Manage client expectations through regular communications and responsiveness.
- Develop solutions independently and have a degree of trust from the client to do so.
- Manage all phases of the project, including developing specifications, documentation, analysis, and reporting.
- Perform complex power generation and transmission studies such as generator connections, voltage stability, insulation coordination, dynamic studies, power station and control system design, and network planning.
- Perform classical power system analysis & modeling including load flow, transient stability, short circuit analysis, and small signal assessments.
- Collaborate globally with PSC colleagues to coordinate and carry out various studies.
- Develop expertise across multiple domains within Power Networks.
- Provide technical leadership and lead team to solve complex problems.
- Contribute technical work products and take a lead role on projects with other consultants.
- Participate in task forces and working committees (e.g., IEEE, CIGRE).
- Mentor less experienced consultants and provide input to managers for performance reviews.
We’d Love You to Have
- 15+ years of in-depth, extensive, and comprehensive expertise in Power Networks, demonstrating a deep understanding of technologies, systems, and functional domains.
- Experience in leading complex projects.
- Advanced user of network simulation software, (EG: PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, RTDS and DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power systems.
- Strong knowledge of industry regulations.
- Professional Engineer designation or a readiness to acquire one.
- Excellent presentation skills to represent PSC in industry forums, working groups and conferences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – in particular, clear and unambiguous email and technical document writing.
- Ability to build and improve relationships with global PSC resources, clients, key suppliers and partners.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills with outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong levels of initiative, self-motivation, and aptitude to learn.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At PSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range isCAD 181,000 to CAD250,000 or$171,000 to $240,000 USD.
