About this Role
We are seeking an experienced data leader for our impact and learning efforts. The Impact + Learning (I+L) team designs, collects, analyzes, and shares out information to different groups with the goal of improving program effectiveness and efficiency through continuous learning. The team includes a VP, two analysts, a Sr. Salesforce Administrator/Developer, and a Salesforce Administrator; together, the technical and analytic sides of the ‘house’ execute on the agency’s robust learning agenda to spur refinements, innovation, and decision making in service of the 7,800+ clients we serve annually.
As Director, you will ensure LifeMoves has the talent, tools, and processes around program measurement and monitoring to deliver the most full, effective program model to our clients and center client outcomes agencywide. This is a full-time role reporting to the VP of Impact + Learning and based in Santa Clara (hybrid). You will take the lead in fostering and enhancing a data and learning culture in close collaboration with other Program, Development, Operations, and Human Resources leaders to drive continuous improvement.
Areas of Responsibility
- Implement and deliver against LifeMoves’s annual learning agenda.
- Provide exceptional guidance, leadership and support to the Impact + Learning data analysis team; collaborate closely with the department’s Salesforce team.
- Maintain and refine a robust reporting system that encompasses data collection, analysis and varying reporting mechanisms for direct service staff, management, Leadership and Board of Directors that will inform on key performance metrics.
- Collaborate effectively as a trusted partner with Program teams to set, collect, analyze, and report on key indicators of performance.
- Partner with the Grants, Contracts, and Compliance (GCC) team to define agency-wide metrics and definitions, guide on data analysis and data use best practices, advise on contractual metrics, and problem-solve around shared data questions.
- Strengthen data literacy, data culture, and learning practices to improve LifeMoves’s programs.
- Lead efforts to document, standardize, and disseminate data definitions and practices within LifeMoves.
- Share and facilitate discussions around program results at least monthly with Program leaders.
- Summarize year-to-date and/or annual program results in annual reports, Board reports, data banks, and other ad hoc projects.
- Collaborate with Impact + Learning’s Salesforce team to develop and maintain LifeMoves’s client information system and other data systems to capture, analyze, and report on program performance.
- Promote the professional development and growth of the Impact + Learning team.
- Collaborate with external research partners to answer critical questions about LifeMoves’s impact.
What You'll Bring
- At least 6 years of progressive data leadership experience in the housing, homelessness, and/or social services fields, including at least 3 years managing a team or leading project teams.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of homeless services and housing programs and their associated data, including best practices and current trends in the field.
- Significant experience with quantitative analysis and tools (STATA, SPSS, R, Excel, etc.); experience using multiple tools to visualize quantitative data (e.g., Excel, R, Tableau).
- Significant experience with qualitative analysis, with an ability to coach Data Analysts in using research-based qualitative data collection and analysis methods.
- Significant experience with Salesforce, ECM, ETO, Apricot, or other databases, including experience prioritizing database development tweaks in support of improved data collection and use.
- Ability to process large amounts of complex information and draw and present relevant conclusions to a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Ability to delegate, track, and project manage multiple high-profile projects simultaneously, working to deliver consistently high-quality work on time and through competing priorities.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage, coach, and inspire a diverse team of professionals at various career phases.
- Familiarity with government funding sources and grant management.
- Commitment to the mission and values of LifeMoves and a passion for serving unhoused individuals and families in the Bay Area.
- Master's degree in a related field (e.g., public administration, public health, nonprofit management, statistics, biostatistics) is highly preferred, but not required.
- Experience with data on homelessness and using Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) is highly preferred, but not required.
