Position Description
The Clearing is seeking a Senior Consultant with specific expertise in strategic communications, branding, and value proposition strategy. Generally, Senior Consultants at The Clearing lead small to medium-sized projects and delegate responsibilities to serve their team members' growth and most importantly, client delight. Senior Consultants demonstrate strong financial management, ensuring their project(s) meet or exceed financial targets. They cultivate team members, modeling the "TC Way," demonstrating our companies core consulting approaches, mindsets, and behaviors; and provide both positive reinforcement and assessments on growth opportunities. Senior Consultants ensure the quality of client work meets or exceeds the customer's expectations. They demonstrate effective client relationship management and listen for and respond to buying signals to deepen the impact of their clients and towards project and/or account growth.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement approaches for branding, strategic communications and value proposition projects.
- Tailor messaging and content as appropriate for unique audiences, such as creating tailored briefing documents for executives, managers, and staff levels.
- Develop communications strategy and rollout plan to support client priority initiatives.
- Develop communications products, such as blogs, blog articles, emails, newsletters, talking points, executive briefings, social media content, etc.
- Gather data, theme content, and distill insights from qualitative and quantitative data.
- Lead/manage small to medium sized projects.
- Manage project financials for multiple small or medium projects, or a large complex project to include time tracking/reporting, expense reporting, invoicing, task planning, status reporting.
- Maintain client satisfaction and ensure quality of work: accountable for all aspects of the client experience, managing client expectations, overseeing client status updates, client requirements, deliverables management, budget performance, and prompt and accurate issue resolution.
- Develop high-quality client-facing deliverables with established project quality standards and solution-based products; demonstrate strong attention to detail and effective written communication skills; provide content review and feedback using past experiences, expertise, and understanding of client environment.
- Facilitate moderately complex client meetings with demonstrated ability to achieve desired outcomes.
- Develop meaningful and trusted professional relationships with clients; serve as the point of contact for one or more clients in a lane or project; advise clients in one-on-one conversations using proven methods and experience.
- Contribute to advanced/complex proposal development efforts, including writing complete sections; act as proposal coordinator for large efforts or lead smaller proposal efforts, in adherence with TC proposal processes and design standards.
- Pursue and secure follow-on or plus-up project work, including managing the capture, proposal, and contract process; partner with growth agent(s) to coordinate capture activities that lead to net-new growth.
- Support and/or lead research, data gathering, and analysis to inform the development of client solutions; synthesize and present results clearly.
- Support the professional training and development of junior team members.
- Showcase critical thinking skills to evaluate needs, make recommendations, and partner with project leadership to refine thinking and approaches to client challenges.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to teammate and client strengths and weaknesses to create a sense of belonging and to value individual contributions.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 6+ years of relevant, professional work experience, preferably in a professional services or client-facing environment with strategic communications experience.
- Experience developing and supporting strategic communications plans, branding strategies, and value proposition strategies.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation creation tools, and internet research tools; familiarity with Google Suite is a plus.
- Strong business writing and editing skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Baltimore metro areas; occasional travel outside of these regions could be expected (5%).
- Desired skills, experiences, and certifications: PMP and/or Prosci certification (or similar/equivalent program/project/change management certification/s), and/or organizational design experience.
- Top Secret level clearance required; willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a positive suitability determination.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Compensation
The projected salary range for this position is between $87,360.00 and $131,040.00 annually. Actual compensation and starting salaries are determined based on various factors, including the education, experience, knowledge, skills, certifications, and clearance level of the candidate and internal equity. Once at The Clearing, movement through pay bands is based on performance. Base-annual salary is just one component of The Clearing's total compensation philosophy and approach. Physical and Mental Requirements
While performing duties of this job, an employee may be required to perform any, or all of the following: Attend meetings in and out of the office, travel (sometimes extensively); occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand; communicate effectively (both orally and in writing); ability to effectively use computers and other electronic and standard office equipment; occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work is primarily sedentary and involves sitting for several hours at a time. Occasionally walking, climbing stairs, and standing occur in this role. Additionally, this job requires certain mental demands, including the ability to use judgment, withstand moderate amounts of stress, and maintain attention to detail.
