About the Job
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences is seeking a full-time, board-certified Ophthalmologist with fellowship-training in Cornea and External Disease and Refractive Surgery. Responsible for providing critical ophthalmological care and clinical services to patients suffering from various eye diseases, infections, trauma, and other eye complications, and supporting research and education across joint healthcare delivery system. Specific duties include:
- Providing outpatient and inpatient consultations;
- Conducting eye examinations;
- Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, including in inpatient and outpatient settings and classroom lectures;
- Conducting clinical and translational research activities and quality improvement projects in Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences;
- Performing eye surgeries, specialized eye treatments, and eye therapies;
- Completing related administrative duties within division, department, and hospital.
Qualifications
M.D. degree or foreign equivalent; graduate of accredited ACGME Ophthalmology residency and a one-year Cornea and External Disease and Refractive Surgery fellowship; board eligible/certified with American Board of Ophthalmology; licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice licensure; ability to maintain DEA certification in Minnesota; ability to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges, and experience or interest in clinical research and other scholarly activities.
Hire will be at Assistant, Associate or full Professor rank on Academic track depending upon qualifications.
