The City of Topeka is seeking an innovative, strategic thinker with outstanding financial, management, and communication skills to serve as the City’s Chief Financial Officer.
This position is responsible for:
- Strategic administrative and financial planning.
- Oversight of the City’s Internal Services departments.
- Financial Analysis and reporting.
- Financial forecasting for the City.
Additionally, this position is integrally involved in the annual operating and capital budget development and management process.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible governmental finance work.
- Minimum of four years of supervisory experience of upper management staff.
- Considerable knowledge of modern governmental accounting theory, principles, and practices; considerable knowledge of public finance and fiscal planning; considerable knowledge of payroll and accounts payable functions. Working knowledge of budgetary, accounting and reporting systems, Governmental Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting (GAAFR), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Annual entry rate of pay: Up to $200,000 DOQ
