Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst to work in our Global Consolidation group within the Finance unit in the Stamford, CT office. This is a hybrid role.
Role Description
The position is for a Senior Financial Analyst with public accounting experience. This individual will assist in the financial consolidation process, financial statement analysis for the consolidated group, US GAAP and management reporting and data collection. In addition, they will execute financial accounting close requirements and assist in researching and analyzing FASB and US GAAP accounting standards and updates, including implementation of new accounting guidance as issued by the FASB. Work with the team in exploring ways to reengineer, streamline and/or harmonize the consolidation work flow through software and technology enhancements. As this position is in the Global Consolidation function, the candidate will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to effectively interact with finance teams in our domestic and international subsidiaries. The position will also require the ability to manage competing priorities to ensure adherence to reporting deadlines.
Position Responsibilities
- Prepare and communicate quarterly financial closing timelines globally.
- Perform quarterly close processes including creating journal entries, account reconciliations, coordination of financial information from subsidiaries, preparation of work papers, financial statement analysis and SOX compliance.
- Perform annual close processes including preparing annual disclosures for Berkshire reporting, assisting with the General Re Corporation Audited Annual Report and preparing Quarterly/Annual Government and Berkshire Surveys.
- Assist in the creation of the various financial reporting packages to support US GAAP, Berkshire and Management reporting.
- Assist in streamlining process improvement projects.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis.
- Assist in new accounting guidance implementation.
Role Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3-4 years work experience with 2 or more in public accounting preferred.
- Knowledge of SAP GL preferred, but not required.
- Reinsurance/Insurance/Financial Services experience is a plus.
- Expertise with Excel and MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Power BI).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly.
- Works well under tight reporting time frames.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Attention to detail in order to produce quality work papers.
- Analytical skills to understand root cause of issues and the ability to develop solutions.
- Ability to see the bigger picture, patterns and trends.
- Self-motivated; willingness to learn.
- Ability to assist in creation/implementation of novel solutions to complex business problems.
- BS degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA preferred, but not required.
Salary Range: 106,000.00 - 178,000.00 USD
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the US and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
