Position SummaryThe Community Engagement Liaison position supports the Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance (WAC/D) faculty to develop and maintain community-driven strategies to advance student learning and long-term relationships. The incumbent performs professional planning work for the various faculty members teaching community engagement (CCE) courses. The Community Engagement Liaison (CEL) is a new position that focuses on ways to identify, cultivate, develop, and sustain relationships with members of the community who can best support and contribute to the learning outcomes of the various CCE courses. The CEL will help facilitate communication and shared goals between WAC/D staff, faculty, teaching assistants, students, and a wide range of community stakeholders. Work requires knowledge of community engagement, committee support, planning concepts, as well as independent judgment and initiative in the performance of duties. Work is performed at UCLA (Kaufman Hall), in situ with community partners, and remotely, as necessary.
Salary & Compensation*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications- Skilled at working with a collaborative internal team, while also outwardly facing to build relationships in the community. (Required)
- Proven experience working with demographically diverse organizations. (Required)
- Experience coordinating community outreach and/or education programs. (Required)
- Experience with data collection, report writing and creation of presentations. (Required)
- Classroom experience in higher education within service learning, community based research, or social work pedagogies. (Required)
- A working knowledge of the differences between community based research, collaborative research design, and service learning. (Required)
- Previous experience working in cultural organizations within outreach, office management, or education programs. (Required)
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. (Required)
- Work effectively as a team contributor with several, separate courses and teachers. Interact professionally and courteously with colleagues and partners. (Required)
- Understand the necessity to efficiently and effectively interact, communicate and coordinate work efforts with other people, such as teaching assistants and organizational leaders. (Required)
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and to conduct business in an ethical manner at all times. (Required)
- Maintain punctuality and communication using emails, texts, and phone calls. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations- Bachelor's Degree in planning or related field or in work in the technical field of expertise as a consultant or professional; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment- Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
