Salary
$65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Location
You may work from one of our offices in D.C., Chicago, from home, or on a hybrid arrangement to suit you. Please note that occasional travel may be required (not to exceed 5% travel). Unfortunately, we cannot offer Visa sponsorship for this role, nor can we consider candidates based outside of the U.S.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.

The role
ISD-US is recruiting an AI Research Analyst to work as part of a team researching AI harms with a focus on issues pertaining to hate speech, violent extremism and disinformation. The AI Research Analyst will conduct quantitative and qualitative digital research, including data analysis and open-source intelligence. The analyst will draft a regular cadence of reports documenting their findings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interpreting datasets from social media and online media sources, using the selection of tools available to ISD researchers, to help detect and analyze AI generated content.
- Monitoring the platforms used to spread AI generated content by relevant hate groups, extremist groups and foreign state information operations online.
- Producing or supporting the production of written summaries of the methods, findings and implications of research for a spectrum of stakeholders.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise with AI harms, disinformation, extremism, or hate speech. This individual should have experience using relevant technologies and methodologies on conducting and understanding online trends and will be proficient with a variety of social listening tools. Ideally, this person will also have 2+ years professional experience working with journalists or media outlets on issues relevant to technology, extremism, or disinformation.
