Position Summary
The Director of Business Development position is responsible for working with the Senior Director of Sales and Service to ensure that the sales team is driving new business with a focus on B2B sales. This position will have its own sales expectations but will also oversee an existing team that sells corporate ticket packages and sponsorship assets for the Miami Marlins. Area of focus include but are not limited to, Marlins suites, all-inclusive club seats, group tickets, and corporate partnerships. This position will receive supervision from the Chief Commercial Officer and will work closely with other Marlins Executives, including VP of Partnership Development, to identify new business development opportunities.
Essential Functions:
- Create and execute sales campaigns and go to market sales strategies for new business initiatives.
- Work with sales leaders on tactics for converting single game buyers to new season ticket members and groups.
- Collaborate with analytics to qualify and distribute sales leads.
- Implement best practices for sales training with desire to further develop rep sales processes.
- Attend sales meetings with sales reps as needed.
- Meet or exceed team and personal annual sales goals.
- Proactively solicit and follow-up on new leads through referrals, networking, and prospecting businesses.
- Attend networking events in the community to generate new business prospects.
- Develop and grow business relationships to ensure organizational revenue growth.
- Establish strong relationships throughout the corporate community both locally and nationally.
- Work with other members of the Sales, Partnerships, Marketing, and other organizational departments in the analysis, acquisition, and implementation of strategic partnerships that are consistent with organization objectives and structure.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with all personality types at the staff and management levels.
- Develop and manage prospective client lists and provide accurate, reliable sales forecasts and status updates.
- Evaluate client satisfaction, retention, and growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A proven track record in relationship building and networking skills with ability to interact effectively and professionally.
- Strong organizational, time-management, excellent oral and written communication.
- Aggressive prospector and highly self-motivated to excel in sales.
- Individual must be comfortable making face to face sales presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Individuals must be coachable and possess a positive attitude.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, experience with Tickets.com Pro-venue a plus.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule (holidays, evenings).
- Deliver exemplary customer service.
Suggested Education & Experience Guidelines
- College Degree – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of 7-10 years sale experience in related field, with min. management experience 2-3 years.
