Overview: Division Chief Technologist, Radar
BlueHalo seeks a highly skilled and visionary Divisional Chief Technologist to lead our nxtRF division's radar technical strategy and innovation initiatives. At BlueHalo we design, integrate, test, and deploy state-of-the-art systems for a range of applications, including wireless communications, radar/EW, phased array antennas, 5G/LTE, positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of radar and associated RF technologies, a proven track record of successful technical leadership and product development, and a passion for driving advancements in defense capabilities.

You’d like to do this
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to the NXTRF Division, ensuring alignment with overall product development strategy.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes related to radio frequency technologies.
- Drive the development and execution of the NXTRF Division's technical strategy, particularly in the area of next-generation radar and RF technologies, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and pursue new opportunities for technology development and application.
- Oversee and guide the research and development efforts within the nxtRF Division, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality and cutting-edge capabilities and solutions.
- Foster collaboration with external partners, research institutions, and government agencies to stay at the forefront of RF technology advancements.
- Lead a team of skilled engineers and researchers, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in radar and RF technologies, providing technical insight and support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of patents, technical publications, and thought leadership within the RF field.
- Develop a product roadmap for future development of existing products to meet domestic and international customer needs.
- Serve as focal point for the development and communication of the system architecture for proposal baselines.
- Ensure capture of mission requirements into proposed systems solutions, ensuring adequate representation of design and technology maturity of the system.
- Develop models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.
- Support internal and external design reviews.
- Present to current and prospective customers and senior management and tailor the material based on the audience.
Experience & Education
- Ph.D. or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- Extensive experience (15+ years) in radar/RF technology development and defense industry applications.
- An active Top Secret (or higher) level DoD security clearance.
Required Skills
- Strong strategic thinking and innovation mindset.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive knowledge of Radar theory.
- Experience working with and designing radar systems.
- Understanding of the RF/Analog, Digital, and Software building blocks of a radar system.
- Proven track record of technical leadership and successfully leading teams in the development of advanced radar/RF technologies.
- Experience with radar system performance modeling and analysis.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing algorithms.
Desired Skills
- Experience writing technical proposals.
- Experience with MATLAB.
- Familiarity with FPGA and RFSOC system design considerations.
