UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center (CMC) is seeking a dedicated Academic Neonatologist to join our team of healthcare professionals and contribute to our overall mission to serve the needs of diverse families in Central Massachusetts through team collaboration.
Our UMass Division of Neonatology provides care to patients within our level III 49-bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with a wide range of medical and surgical needs. Our collaborative workforce includes advanced practice providers, pediatric residents, neonatal perinatal fellows, newborn hospitalists, and other multi-disciplinary team members.
Clinical Care
- Provide expert neonatal care to critically ill newborns in the Level 3 UMass Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and affiliate level 2 community special care nurseries.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and compassionate patient care.
- Attend high risk deliveries with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Perform procedures such as intubation, central line placement, lumbar puncture and thoracentesis.
- Perform inpatient antenatal consultations regarding issues of prematurity, neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome and common chronic maternal medical conditions.
- Collaborate with our multi-specialty team to provide outpatient consults in our Maternal Fetal Medicine Center regarding complex maternal disease, multiples, fetal anomalies and other high risk pregnancies.
Education and Scholarship
- Provide bedside teaching to medical trainees, including medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers.
- Develop and implement educational curricula, lectures, and workshops.
- Engage in scholarly activities including medical education, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research.
- Collaborate with peers pursuing academic scholarship within the Department of Pediatrics and others at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Participate in division meetings, committees, and initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, safety, and quality.
- Contribute to institutional policies, protocols, and guidelines related to neonatal care.

Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) and board certification or board eligibility in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
- Eligibility for medical licensure in Massachusetts.
- Strong commitment to serving underserved communities, equitable family centered care and diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, with a track record of teaching, research, and scholarly activities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience in clinical neonatology, including management of complex neonatal conditions and procedures.
