Senior Civil Engineer - Public Works
Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer - Public Works for our Denver office. The candidate will have at least 8+ years' experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado with Public Works projects. Duties include but are not limited to, initial project research, plan production and management of plan production staff, plan processing and management of plan processing efforts, construction administration and project close out efforts.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
Duties:
- Function as a Lead Civil Engineer within Public Works practices
- Prepare preliminary engineering reports.
- Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings
- Prepare proposals/contracts and project work plans and schedules
- Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities
- Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work.
- Prepare GIS exhibits.
- Conduct site visits and document findings
- Work directly with clients and direct a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise
- Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence
- Write or prepare graphic materials for presentations or documents
- Manage staff in hydrology and hydraulic duties, flood analysis, stormwater treatment, and client management
- Initiate and lead kickoff calls or high-level design calls with clients, in addition to preparing monthly forecasting and client cost estimates when appropriate

- Successfully and consistently functions as Lead Principal-in-Charge for their designated Practice Area in geographic market.

- Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project.
- Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget.
- Proactively works with PM to strategize resolving issues that impact project performance.
- Successfully contributes to the overall profitability and financial performance on projects.
- Oversees staff deliverables and production assigned to their projects to ensure client, legal, and company requirements are met.

Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering
- Must be a licensed PE in Colorado with a minimum of 8+ years of experience
- Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports
- Ability to work independently in a team environment and manage multiple projects with limited supervision
- Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely
- Ability to train staff and review work for quality assurance
- Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented
- Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients.
- Develop relationships with clients that allow for ease in communications and problem-solving
- Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for stakeholders

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
- The employee must be able to concentrate on details and work under deadline pressures
Annual Base Salary Range: $100K - $180K depending on experience and qualifications of the selected candidate(s).
