MSG is a small-disadvantaged, social sciences consulting firm specializing in research and evaluation, policy analysis, and technical assistance (TA). We pride ourselves on rigorous and innovative qualitative and quantitative data collection, management, analysis, and reporting.
MSG has successfully managed more than $225 million in Federal and State contracts since 2008, including more than ten FNS contracts. MSG has had nine SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) contracts with FNS through which we continue to cultivate our expertise in SNAP administration and operation.
This position will support the firm's Research and Evaluation service line. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative methods. They will join a dynamic team of researchers from a variety of disciplines working together to design, develop, and implement rigorous research for USDA and other clients. The successful candidate will have experience leading projects as a project manager and/or project director, as well as participating in business development. This individual will play a lead role on SNAP research projects and will, ideally, have topical expertise in SNAP.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Design research and mixed-method evaluations, including analysis plans for extant data.
- Build and analyze large datasets of extant data.
- Build/maintain agency relationships.
- Liaise with project client, drawing from in-depth content expertise.
- Oversee project staff, budget, and quality control.
- Lead capture planning on potential opportunities.
- Develop research solutions and lead writing on proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strategic thinker with 15 years of research experience.
- At least 5 years' experience researching Food and Nutrition Service programs.
- Demonstrated initiative leading a team as well as working with individual supervisees.
- Excels at managing, editing, writing, analyzing and synthesizing complex material.
- Ability to write and present nuanced research for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong personal diplomacy, including a highly professional temperament and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
