Job Summary: Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families. Provides care to hospitalized patients, specialized to conditions of the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg. Schedule: 8 hr day shifts. You will rotate weekend and evening call with the other podiatrists covering both Abbott and United Hospitals when on call (typically once every 8 weeks).
Key Position Details:
This position includes both conservative and surgical management of complex acute and chronic conditions of the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg. Works collaboratively as a team member with both the inpatient and outpatient podiatrists and their teams as well as with the other specialties involved with the patient's care. Will provide outpatient clinical services for hospital discharged patients on a rotating basis. Strong surgical background and experience in diabetic limb salvage with wound care experience. Fellowship preferred, but not required. There will be rotational weekday evening and weekend call. Proficient and experienced with EPIC type EMR system (preferred).

Principle Responsibilities:
- Direct Patient Care:
- Specializes in care of conditions of the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg.
- Manages all limb salvage and other inpatient podiatric consults, including performing all necessary surgeries.
- Functions as key team member for multi-specialty team with vascular surgery, internal medicine, and infectious disease.
- Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
- Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
- Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
- Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
- Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
- Provides care in a hospital setting.
- Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
- Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
- May participate in on-call rotation.
- May be responsible for lead duties in wound clinics.
Job Requirements:
- Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine required.
- Completion of a 24 month residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in a program approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) required.
- 0 to 2 years of demonstrated experience in designated specialty area required.
- Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire.
- ACLS-BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required within 180 Days.
- PALS - Pediatric Advance Life Support - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire.
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire.
- Licensed Physician - WI upon hire required.
- Board Certification or Board Eligible by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ABFAS) upon hire required.
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required.
- Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required.
- National Provider Identifier upon hire required.
